Or "How To Heal A Broken Arm," which I was also tempted to name it. XD thenocturne gave me its current name.
A one shot from Nalo's point of view (mostly) since my last one shot and thenocturne's one shot have both been pretty much all from Etoile's point of view. XD
Nalo takes a tumble and finds help in an unlikely place.
---
Anyone who passed the pair in the corridor would almost be able to hear the yells of protest that the mute girl was trying to make.
“Nalo, you’re bleeding! You need help from one of the medical operatives, it won’t take long,” Etoile insisted, pulling her along by the wrist. The injured girl was struggling to pull in the opposite direction without dislodging the hastily applied gauze on her grazed arm. Since he was only trying to help, she couldn’t bring herself to try and choke her friend, yet.
The conflicting couple soon realised that there was basically no one present in the sick bay. Where everyone had gone, they weren’t sure, but they soon arrived at the main office in the centre.
“Come on, we’ll go look inside,” Etoile suggested, but Nalo just tore her arm free from his grip and flew backwards to the other side of the corridor, where a row of plastic seats lined the wall. The girl floated adamantly above one of them, giving Etoile a cold stare, and the boy sighed in dismay.
“Okay, I’ll find someone myself! Just stay there, alright? And don’t mess with the gauze!” And with those words he vanished through the door.
With a silent sigh of relief, Nalo slowly moved down through the air to seat herself on one of the chairs, supporting her injured arm with her healthy one. She’d taken a tumble in the janitor’s closet and caught her arm on a sharp surface, leaving numerous scratches which were seeping with the strange textured black blood of her species. It was almost powdered as it left the body, it could nearly be described as feeling like flakes of rough silk.
Nalo let her gaze roam around the surrounding area, trying to take her mind off the throbbing pain emanating from her forearm. It suddenly came to her attention that she could hear two pairs of footsteps coming her way. Looking round, she realised the two pairs belonged to the same person.
The small, green skinned Ynda was taking a walk on all fours down the corridor, and when she noticed Nalo, she gave her a look which seemed to suggest that the smaller alien felt like the larger one was intruding on her territory. The injured girl raised an eyebrow and tried to return the look, only for the pained pout on the lower half of her face to diminish any effect her stare might have had.
The small girl simply looked away again and continued on her way, obviously not caring about Nalo and her predicament. The ailed alien moved position a little, the hard synthetic material of the chair not being particular comfortable, but the movement jarred her sore arm and she inhaled sharply in pain. Too busy adjusting the padded material on her arm, Nalo didn’t notice that the grumpy alien had stopped to look at her again.
It wasn’t until about half a minute later, when the small green alien jumped onto the chair beside her, did she acknowledge her. Curiosity began to fill the grey-skinned girl’s features as she looked at Ynda, and recognised that a red spot has appeared on her forehead. Tilting her head to the side slightly in question, the green girl sighed.
"Don't mention this. Seriously, I wouldn't do this for someone who could talk," was all the girl said before holding onto Nalo’s injured arm with one paw and pulling off the gauze with the other, causing her to gasp in pain, then in surprise when Ynda revealed the reason for her actions.
A translucent beam of light similar to a laser burst from the coloured spot on Ynda’s forehead, and the moment it touched the broken skin on Nalo’s arm, the cells began to regenerate, and with it the pain subsided. In a mere few seconds, the only sign of the injury was the dried blood still bordering where the lacerations used to be.
Nalo examined her now healed arm with a blatantly shocked expression on her face, allowing Ynda to jump onto the floor and continue down the corridor as she was before. The now fully healthy female followed her healer with her gaze, and when Ynda just continued walking without a second glance, Nalo reached out with a new, long limb and tapped her on the shoulder, without even getting up from her seat. The little alien turned around for a moment, just long enough for Nalo to give her a clearly grateful look.
Literally two shakes of a lamb’s tail later, Etoile stumbled out of the main office, carrying an armful of bandages and other medical equipment, most of which looked like objects he probably wasn’t even qualified to use. He was also panting; he’d clearly tried to retrieve the items as quickly as possible.
"I-I couldn't find anyone s-so I got this stuff instead... Hey your arm got better!" he added in surprise, staring at the girl’s blood-stained arm while his chest heaved with the effort of breathing. Nalo just nodded at him as if he had just pointed out that the sky is blue. "Did a medic come by then?" he continued, and Nalo just gave him a sceptical look, and nodded slowly. "Oh, I'm just so glad you're okay!" he chirped happily, leaping across the corridor to attempt to hug her with one arm and juggle the medical equipment with the other, which Nalo hastened to assist him with; both the hug and the juggling.
…Later that day, the duo were making their way to the cafeteria to pick up some food for supper, and passed their grumpy friend, who was yelling at an alien much larger than herself, ordering him to move. Nalo couldn’t help but smile, and when she caught her eye, winked at her. Etoile couldn’t fail to notice the gesture, and inquired her about it, but she just smiled and shook her head, telling him not to worry about it. He quickly complied, smiling along with her, leaving Ynda to continue yelling and wonder in the back of her mind if the wink meant Nalo was keeping the events from earlier to herself or not.
