Do you ever get that feeling or thought that sometimes you just wish to be a kid forever? To not lose your childhood, wanting to look back into the past? All you need to do is grab the remote, flip through the channels and – Oh, well what do you know! A cartoon with five kids running around acting as secret agents trying to have FUN is on!
My name’s Allie. I grew up with this show. Heh, scratch that, I’m still growing up with it. And staying a KID at heart. Because this cartoon, this television show means a lot to me. It’s called:
CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOORThis is basically about these five kids trying to defeat the wrath of evil adult tyranny for kids to be free. But in my eyes it’s much more than that. Just gotta trust me on this, you will not be disappointed. It has Friendship, Humor, and Teamwork. And awesomilous plotlines! Having six seasons, two specials, and a movie, it will become a classic.
Now, let’s begin with the five main characters that’s a reason why a lot of people get into this show! Starting with… Numbuh One.
-Nigel Uno, Numbuh One: Leader of Sector V, bald, British, stern and stubborn. He’s actually the real reason how I got into the show six years ago in the first place. He even reminds me of myself since Nigel’s a hard worker, not wanting to go anywhere. I love him to death, he’s amazing.
-Onto Numbuh Two, Hoagie Gilligan Jr. Really smart, nice, loves to fly planes and build 2x4 technology. Though some fans give poor Hoagie a hard time because of his weight. But I don’t care. I like Numbuh Two as he is; he’s so awesome and funny.
-Next operative Numbuh Three, Kuki Sanban! Aka, the Flirt. Cheerful as always, Kuki is happy, happy, HAPPY! Though if someone’s messing with her stuffed animals, hamsters, or friends – she’ll surely turn into a fury demon and kick your butt! Kuki’s all around nice, a sweet character in the series.
-The fourth operative really packs a punch, I mean that; seriously! Wallabee “Wally” Beatles, Numbuh Four may look like a short pipsqueak, but don’t let his appearance fool you; he’s tougher than he looks! Lots of laughs with this guy, too! Very popular character, though he might be a bit of a stereotype at times – he can’t swim or spell. But that’s what makes him unique! Wally also has a soft spot but hates to show it; Example: Has a crush on Numbuh Three! A lot of viewers watch the show because of him!
-Now, to the last main character; Numbuh Five, Abigail “Abby” Lincoln. Cool, clam, and collected, this girl usually keeps herself quiet do from an accident on a mission in the past. She is also a lover of sweet treats, especially candy. Numbuh Five’s the only one with common sense, and doesn’t let Nigel over work himself.
Now I’ll be discussing on a couple of episodes:
Operation: I.T. – Numbuh 362, supreme leader of all the Kids Next Door decides to step down form being supreme leader due to all the pressure she’s having. But with a little help from Nigel (Numbuh One), and going on a solo mission with him, she learns and makes her final decision at the end of the full episodes; back as supreme commander.
Operation: E.N.G.L.A.N.D. – Nigel (Numbuh One) takes a business trip with his dad. Which is one of my favorite episodes of all time! Humorous, great plot, discovering a few secrets of Numbuh Zero.
Operation: M.O.O.N. – Oh my God, my favorite episode of the last season, not to mention it’s a spoof of my favorite movie; The Truman Show! Numbuh Four and his family move to the ‘moon’, but it’s really a show disguised by Sector V with the help from a few moon base operatives for the Government not to destroy the real moon.
And to tell you the truth, a few people get into the show by supporting their favorite paring. I’ll just list a couple of them here:
Kuki/Wally (3/4) – Oh, isn’t it obvious? They’re totally crushing! There has been several hints on liking each other. Also they’re named ‘the most cutesty-woseyest-pair’!
Nigel/Rachel (1/362) – Oh, these two are my top-favorite in the show! Nigel and Rachel support each other a lot. Both great leaders, stubborn, and plus they sometimes argue but apologize in the end. They’re KICK-BUTT-AWESOME together, and I know it!
So you see guys, this is why I watch the show. Like I said, its’ more than just a cartoon. For those who hate this show, I pity you. Really, no lie. A man – a brilliant, amazing, Kid-At-Heart man who had created this show wanted only to teach us one thing: For us not to grow-up too fast, to be a kid. In the words of Nigel Uno from the series finale:
“Even if you’re all over a hundred years old; stay young and NEVER grow up.”
