The day had gone by without a single thrilling mission. No special missions, no secret attacks from evil adults. Nope nothing that was worth writing home about, nothing spectacular at all. That was until Unagi came into the main room with a paper bag over his head, causing the colorful Princess and the curly green haired girl gracing him with raised eyebrows.
“Okay…” She began placing her mustard related magazine down on her lap. “I’ll bite. What’s with the bag, man?” She asked amused.
After a moment of silence, the aquatic alien said, “I need Niji’s help…It’s like critically important.” At that, Niji turned her attention from her fashion magazine to focus on Unagi with a clearly troubled look on her features.
“Um, okay?” She said apprehensively, “What’s the problem?” She asked confused.
Unagi sighed, “See I have this date with Vibe, and—,”
“Oh, and you need some advice on how to make it a great one?” Tala guessed, “Well bro, you’ve come to the right place. First, you-,” Unagi, placed a hand over her mouth irritated that she interrupted,
“No. I have a date with Vibe and I woke up with…” He clenched his fists at his sides. Niji and Tala looked at him expectantly,
“With…?” The two girls urged simultaneously.
Unagi went on, “With… This!” At that last word, the green-skinned boy removed the bag from his head, revealing a rather large green pimple at the center of his forehead.
Niji tilted her head, “Oooh…” She said softly. Tala however was not as discreet with her reaction as she burst out into a fit of laughter at the sight of it.
“D-dude!” She said in between giggles, “That sucker is HUGE!” She emphasized the word huge, “I-I don’t know whether to pop it, or wa-wave hello!” She stammered, wiping away her tears of laughter. Unagi blushed in embarrassment, raising the bag, to place it back over his head; he would have completed that task if it wasn’t for Niji gently holding his arm.
“Tala…” Niji gently reprimanded the younger girl. “You’re not helping…” She turned back to the worried teenage boy. “This pimple isn’t so bad…” She said, trying to assure him. “Besides at this point, I don’t think Vibe really cares what you look like.” She said with a smile, “I’m sure she loves you no matter what size your pimple is.” She patted his shoulder. Unagi however was not moved by her words,
“Yeah, and if all else fails, you can dress it up and call it your long lost triplet.” She laughed at her joke. “You never know, Vibe might buy it!”
Niji slapped her palm over her forehead. “Tala…”
Unagi chose to ignore the younger girl’s comment, “Niji, I don’t think you understand…” He shook his head, “Do you see this face? It's like, a future money-maker!” He pointed to his features.
“Oh, here we go…” Tala interrupted with an eye roll.
“No one else has a face like mine!” He cried almost hysterical.
“You mean besides your twin brother, right?” Tala asked, amused.
“Yeah, right besides him...” He agreed. “Anyway the point is, I can’t go out with Vibe looking like this!” He said flailing his arms. “It’s criminal.” He stressed, grabbing Niji's shoulders and shaking her a bit.
Niji put her hands up in surrender, “O-okay, okay. Calm down…” She hushed. “I think I have just the thing for it. I’ll be right back.” Princess Niji turned on her heel and flew out the door leaving Tala and Unagi alone.
A moment of silence passed between the two operatives.
“So did you at least name the pimple yet?”
Unagi groaned, shoving the bag back down on his head. “No…”
Five minutes later Niji returned with a compact in her hand, and instructed to have a seat on the couch. Once seated, Niji opened the compact and revealing a white powdery substance. Unagi jerked his head pack slightly,
“What’s that?”
“It’s moonglow cover-up dust…” She explained applying some of it to the large bump. “It’s made from the moons of my planet, and it blends into any skin color. Plus it’s great for your skin; it prevents future breakouts, and it's also a great moisturizer too.” Niji patted more powder on Unagi’s forehead. “Now you see it…” The colorful girl began as she blended in the excess powder into the bump, she turn the compact over to the side with the mirror, “And now you don’t…”
Unagi checked out his reflection, releasing the breath he had been holding. The pimple was gone; it was as if the pimple was never there in the first place, “I-I can’t see it anymore! It's practically invisible.” He cried amazed. “Thanks Niji.”
Tala returned to her magazine dispassionately, “Well, there goes my entertainment for the day…”
Niji smiled, pleased that Unagi was feeling better, “You’re very welcome…” She said with a small wink, “Now you are aware of the wonder of make-up.” She said in a zen like voice.
“So…” He drawled, causing Niji tilt her head at him, “What do you look like under there.” He pointed to the Princess’ face.
Niji’s pleasant smile faded in an instant. He might as well have splashed ice water on the entire moment because Niji’s glare at him was cold. She narrowed her eyes and snapped the compact shut. “I hardly wear that much make-up…” She informed him heatedly, “And if I did you’ll never know.” And with that the Princess stuck her tongue out at him and stomped away in a slight huff.
