Christmas Bliss: A 1/362 Wedding Story
“Oh God,” said twenty-two year old Rachel McKenzie (soon to be Uno) tapping her fingers against the banquet of roses she was holding in her grasp. She wore the most gorgeous wedding gown of all brides, which were the opinions of the bridesmaid, and the groom himself.
“Ya’ve been saying that for over ten minutes now,” Fanny Fulbright (soon to be Drilosky) giggled lightly, fixing the back of Rachel’s sash of the dress.
The dress was white as snow itself. And as for Rachel’s hair, it was up in a small bun, her golden locks shined beautifully by the moonlight outside on the balcony of the priest’s mansion.
Rachel lowered her head, taking a deep breath. “I can do this…” she whispered, “Rachel Tristan McKenzie… get a hold of yourself! Tonight, on Christmas Eve you will be attending your wedding with… Nigel Uno.”
Her lips curled into a smile thinking of her fiancé. Courageous, adventurous stubborn, British, bald and seemed the most romantic out of Sector V of the Kids and Teens Next Door. Also one of the greatest—No, the best commander in her eyes that she saw, growing to love him.
“Rachie!” Kuki peeked into the room, wearing a green dress to her knees, carrying a small banquet of flowers and her dark, long hair flowed down. “It’s time; it’s time for you to get wed to Nigel!”
“That’s our que, ay?” Fanny ruffled her curly-red hair for a split second and hugged Rachel. “Good luck, an’ be the most wonderful wife to ‘im, alrighty lass?”
Rachel accepted the hug, returning it to her best friend. Childhood memories swept her mind with shimmering tears of joy. “Thank you, Fanny...”

Twenty-two year old Nigel Uno waited patiently at the altar outside of the friar’s cell out on the large balcony. He was dressed a dark gray tuxedo with black dress shoes and a nice red tie, and his sunglasses were added in on his face. Small flurries flew with the wind; the snow had rested on the banister. A small drop of sweat developed into his skin, and quickly wiped it away with his hand. “Alright… Never mind. I am nervous.” He spoke to himself. Hoagie Gilligan his best man laughed lightly, patting Nigel’s shoulder. Patton and Wally stood by their sides as well; his parents and Rachel’s parents (plus her brother) were sitting quietly, trying to contain their excitement.
“Dude, you’re going to be great, relax!” said Hoagie.
Nigel turned towards his companion and said, “Well I wasn’t the one who was this close before wetting his pants on his wedding day.”
Hoagie’s cheeks burned with red, frowning. “I did not wet my pants! It was just…lemonade spilt into my lap…That’s it!”
“An’ we all suggest that ya shut-up!” screeched Fanny, walking up. The Maid of Honor rolled her eyes and patiently waited for Kuki and Abby’s arrival. And that would mean… that soon Nigel’s bride was following close behind.
The bald man got himself together, and then Rachel appeared before him with her father beside her, smiling lovingly. Nigel took a deep breath, offered his arm to his bride. Rachel accepted and the two turned to the priest.
This was their night. Their wedding, the two retired leaders have been waiting for this moment ever since… well, until their college years at least! No, Nigel was not marrying Abby Lincoln or even Lizzie Devine— He followed the truth in his heart and finally set his eyes on the girl that was for him, devoted to him. Rachel McKenzie, back in the day where she was the Supreme Commander of the entire Kids and Teens Next Door Organization. A proud, brave and mighty strong leader who never gave up once.
Rachel thought Nigel was the sweetest, hard-working, stubborn, and courageous of all sector leaders when they were kids and he had always has been her childhood sweetheart, her only crush, the only hero she had looked up to. Months after Nigel’s break-up with Lizzie, an ex-girlfriend in his past of childhood, she finally confessed her feelings for the bald Brit, after a few moments she had let the confession bomb, he had said nothing but only smiled. Widely. And there he had admitted he loved her too, very much.
The two kids have worked together side-by-side, hard. If Rachel was in a situation she couldn’t bare to get through, Nigel grabbed her hands, looked her in the eye and told her everything’s going to be alright, that he’ll always be by her side, no matter what will happen…
“Dearly beloved,” the priest began, “We are gathered here today to bare witness this blessed union of Nigel James Uno—” Nigel chuckled nervously soft at his middle name. “—and Rachel Tristan McKenzie.” Rachel blushed when her beautiful middle name was pronounced. “If anyone have any reason why these two shall not be wed as husband and wife, speak now or forever hold their peace.”
Silence. Nigel and Rachel held their breath until the priest spoke a few minutes after. They gave out a sigh of relief.
The priest cleared his throat and said,
“Very well then. Nigel, please repeat after me.” And so he gave the vows he had to say.
“I, Nigel James Uno,” stated Nigel, slipping the beautiful golden ring onto Rachel’s finger, “take you Rachel Tristan McKenzie and promise to love, honor, and obey you, for the richer and poorer, to have and to hold you, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”
“Good, wonderful!” said the priest. “Rachel now is the time. Please repeat after me.” He then gave the vows that she needed to say.
“I, Rachel Tristan McKenzie,” stated Rachel, “take you Nigel-” She bit her lips with a smile at his middle, original name. “-Nigel James Uno and promise to love, honor, and obey you, for the richer or poorer, to have and to hold you, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”
“Very good. Do you, Nigel, take this woman to be lawfully wedded wife?” asked the priest.
“I do.” Nigel said proudly, holding Rachel’s hands, looking at her in the eyes.
“And do you, Rachel, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do,” Rachel said and blushed, smiling.
“Then the power vested in me,” said the priest, “I now pronounce you Man and Wife, you may kiss the bride.”
Nigel grinned, taking his bride into his arms and whirled her around in the air. Rachel laughed and was placed down. He lowered his face down to her and pressed his lips against hers into a sweet kiss. Rachel kissed back, her hands lightly, brushed against his chest. It was long and cherished.
After a few seconds later, the newly-married couple pulled away, smiling at each other greatly. Sector V, Fanny and Patton, Nigel’s parents and Rachel’s parents cheered of their friends and children’s marriage.
Moments after, Nigel and Rachel were thankful and bid farewell to the priest on using his ‘holy ceremony’ balcony for the wedding.
“Come back anytime.” He said with a grin.

The reception was held up in the tree house of Sector V, where the team was raising their glasses of wine to their leader and his bride.
“Let’s here it for Nigel and Rachel Uno, ya’ll!” Abby called out. She and her husband Hoagie, Kuki and Wally cheered.
Rachel’s face flushed with red as her beloved husband held her in his arms, nuzzling his face against her hair, and then resting his chin on top of her head. Nigel’s eyes drooped lovingly once he peered above them. Mistletoe tied from a string was hanging down.
“Rach,” Nigel whispered into his wife’s ear, “look up and tell me what you see.” Rachel did so and gasped. She looked at her husband and grinned.
“It’s Christmas Eve, it’s our wedding night, and… it’s tradition. You, Nigel James Uno have been a very good little boy this year.”
Nigel smirked, and pulled her in. There he wrapped his arms around her waist, feeling the fabric of her wedding dress, stroking her back. Rachel wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning in and planted a long, tender kiss on his lips.
The groom pulled away and looked at his bride in her brown, shimmering eyes and said, “Oh, have I? And you, Rachel Tristan McKenzie have been a very, very good little girl this year, too.”
“Is that so?” asked Rachel. “It looks like we’ll be getting gifts from Santa Claus, now won’t we?”
“Indeed.” Nigel agreed.
Wally nearly spit out his wine crying out, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!!! …What are you guys talking about!?”
Kuki giggled, taking hold of her boyfriend’s hands. “Wally, Nigel and Rachel will be…. You know what, never mind. I’ll tell you later, okay?” Wally shrugged it off and nodded.
“Well we better drink up, Hoag.” said Abby, finishing her glass of wine and grabbing her coat. “Almost Ten o’clock, an’ we’re goin’ to my parents house tomorrow fo’ Christmas, remember?”
Hoagie finished his beverage and held his wife’s hand. “Right, we better get home.”
The two looked at the newly wed couple with warm, large smiles crossed on their faces, and bid the two to have a happy future together and goodnight. Then, they left. Kuki and Wally did the same, but Kuki did something different… She threw her arms around Rachel and gave her an almighty death hug of happiness, her eyes welding with joyous tears. Wally and even Nigel had to tug her off of Rachel. Wally calmed Kuki, said their goodbyes and left Nigel and Rachel alone.

10:00 p.m.
Nigel and Rachel were now in bed, resting against each other after from a few minutes of kissing passionately. Rachel was cuddled up on Nigel’s chest, as Nigel himself had buried half of his face in her long, blonde hair that was out of her small bun. He sighed happily, drifting off to sleep.
His bride continually traced hearts on his bare chest, brown eyes drooping, and her smile lovingly. A minute later Rachel had fallen asleep with her husband, he was holding her in his arms, she doing the same with him.
And this was the night of the most wonderful Christmas Eve they’ve ever had, as well as their most cherished night. They were happily married now and forever.
