Anybody here up for couples in Pokémon, from Kenny/Dawn to Ash/Misty? In my case, I figure that if Ash ends up catching Dawn as his girlfriend, then it's about time. Of course, I may very well end up tacitly agreeing with Drew and May's (possible) romantic friendship, but you never know. Thus, here we go.:
1. Ash/Dawn (Two phrases: "High Touch", "'legendary' connections") 2. Ash's Pikachu/Dawn's Buneary (In a word, wow.) 3. Drew/May (Maybe a way to branch out a bit)

I know I'll be bumping this, but I'm in a Pokemon shippy mood. ^__^
I support-
-Pearlshipping (Ash/Dawn) -Specialshipping (Red/Yellow - Reminds me of 1/362 for some reason. ^^) -Questshipping (Jimmy/Marina; From Pokemon Chronicles) -Hoennshipping (Brendan/May) -Orangeshipping (Tracy/Misty -- Awww, come on. There were actual hints in Chronicles! :3)
Oooh, and I can't wait to ship the new PKMN trainer, Soul (HeartGold/SoulSilver) with someone!

I don't watch Pokémon a lot, nor do I know what names all those ships have. ^^; But anyway, I'm gonna go with Ash/Misty and Drew/May. In regards to the first couple: I never liked May and I don't know Dawn much, but I think Misty's the only one out of three with an actual personality. About the second, it's a bit of love/hate relationship, and love/hate relationships are interesting. :3

Perhaps I would have affirmed Vera and tj about Drew/May when I first came up with this thread, but due to certain realizations about myself, I realize that both that and Ash/Misty are thoroughly inadequate for my own interests. You see, I've been investigating a couple of gaps in my interest in Pokémon, and these gaps match not only my current assessment about this show, but also, especially the second gap, my interest in Codename: Kids Next Door. I'll begin with certain American broadcast dates provided by Bulbapedia for Pokémon episodes. For some reason, there were two periods of time in which I found it extremely difficult to recall certain developments related to those episodes when they first premiered: mid-September 2001 to early November 2003; and mid-December 2005 to early June 2007. I cross-referenced between those memory gaps and Bulbapedia’s broadcast date list, and there was a startling revelation on my part: I had skipped not only most of Johto -- including the supposed final moment between Ash and Misty -- but also the last part of Hoenn and the entirety of the Kanto Battle Frontier -- during which, according to Bulbapedia, many moments between Drew and May took place.
Upon coming to that conclusion, I set out to examine my memories for events that I considered worthier of my attention within those separate spans of time, and the results proved strangely unsurprising, at least to me: Al-Qaeda destroyed the World Trade Center some days before the halfway point of September 2001, and the United States launched invasions of Afghanistan one month later and then Iraq on March 20, 2003. I got a memo about May’s debut on Pokémon, so in early November 2003, I decided to stick around for her arrival in Littleroot Town and her resulting encounter with Ash. I opined that May could actually do a better job of getting along with Ash than Misty did, especially considering Drew. Of course, the bigger gap -- a much bigger one, to be precise -- began in December 2005… right around the time that Charles Krauthammer revealed that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's eagerness to wipe Israel off the map is linked to a belief that the Hidden Imam will appear within a short time to bring about an Islamic new world order. A series of riots over a dozen cartoons supposedly mocking Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, in late January to early February 2006 -- followed by North Korea’s nuclear fireworks on the 4th of July and Hezbollah’s attack against Israel 10 days later -- drew my attention even more toward events of that nature at the time, but Newt Gingrich’s argument that World War III was underway and additional speculation that Iran would detonate a nuclear weapon over Jerusalem on August 22 of that same year were enough to turn my mind decisively toward international politics for the rest of the year... and keep it there to this very day.
As April 2007 and Dawn’s premiere approached, I came to the assumption that if I really wanted to add Pokémon to my interest in current events, then I would need to find a way to sincerely communicate attributes consistent with both the show and the individuals I admired and respected within the events I was tracking. Sure enough, while Ash was making his way toward Sinnoh, Dawn encountered Mesprit, a Pokémon representing emotion, and deeper into Sinnoh, while Dawn was progressing through the Wallace Cup, Ash encountered Azelf, a Pokémon representing willpower. It would take an attack by Team Galactic on Celestic Town to reinforce my thought process: Cyrus believes that combining the power of the Lake Guardians -- namely Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie -- with the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs will enable him to bring forth Dialga and Palkia, thereby annihilating Sinnoh and the Pokémon world. Ash and Dawn's best attributes oppose Cyrus' world-ending agenda quite impressively, as per everything I've observed of these two kids during their Sinnoh adventure. Thus it is that Ash and Dawn have come closer than any other Pokémon couple to events and individuals powerful enough to change the Pokémon world forever, earning my support for them as a couple. My fanfiction model starting in early September 2007 expressing the integration of my interest in Codename: Kids Next Door into my interest in current events, following a similar thought process. I may have opined that Ash/May would work better than Ash/Misty and Drew/May, but between the Lake Guardians' appearances and Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina's coming Spear Pillar showdown, I am decisively in the Ash/Dawn camp.

I really like Misty, she's cool. ^^ I guess I don't ship with Ash because... well, when I first started to watch Pokemon I didn't really understand fictional couples. (I was six when it aired ^^; ) But their arguements are funny, I can tell you that! :3 But I prefer Ash/Dawn because... well, just my opinion, it seems that when they're together they... can master anything. ^^ Ash and Dawn do tag-battles, and they show confidence with each other. Also, Dawn cheers on Ash giving him full support with his gym battles. I really can't wait to see Ash and Paul's "Full Battle" episode. Chimchar goes bananas! (pun intended. xD since Chimy's a monkey pokemon...) and Ash tries to calm him down, but is getting hurt by his flames--Dawn really wants to help him, but is blocked off by Brock. It sounds really epic. ^^ But I respect all Pokeshippers/Advanceshippers out there! *nod, nod*

I think I stopped watching the series somewhere around mid-Johto, so I actually don't know any of the other leading girls besides Misty I liked her ^^ And she and Psyduck were funny! So I guess I'll have to go with Ash/Misty too, because I don't know any of the other girls. I think they fit ^-^ Their teasing is funny. I remember this one episode, where Brock had left to stay with a female professor to become a Pokémon Breeder, and Ash and Misty were travelling by themselves. They got captured by Team Rocket and they hinted something about them liking each other and they were all: "OO!! NO WAY!! >/////>;; *blush blush*" XD I still like playing the games though! ^-^ They're cool! I love my Charizard XD

Teasing and arguing may have been key components of Ash and Misty's relationship... and yet, I am willing to go for cheering as key components of Ash and Dawn's relationship. Dawn's cheerfulness has inspired Ash tremendously, and Ash has looked out for Dawn in a way that I didn't quite expect in the past with Misty or May. Even now, Rica Matsumoto and Megumi Toyoguchi's "High Touch" shines brightly as the sort of theme song for Pearlshipping, as it has since the first time I heard it.: Anime Lyrics: Rica Matsumoto and Megumi Toyoguchi: High TouchSomehow, I could never get tired of listening to that song, an excellent musical summary of Ash and Dawn's romantic friendship, I think, for now and for the future.
