Healing Davis

This doesn't reflect the scene Jas drew of Rika/Davis, but I got this idea after looking at the picture. ^^ I dunno if the title is appropriate though.

Anyway, this isn't the whole fiction, just a snippet of it b/c i don't really have time to fully focus on it yet. '^^

Let me know what you think or any suggestions you may have. ^^

A Davis/Rika fanfiction

He had just delievered the final blow in the battle....using the energy of his friends...and sacrificing himself as well....

the price was paid

"veemon.....VEEEMOOON!!!" The spikey haird boy cried, as he cluthched the last of what was left of his digimon tightly in his arms.

"Davis." A tall boy with a white hat on his had said sadly.

"NO! NO, it can't be! >< Veemon's strong! Nothing could ever...." He choked. The Digidestined and Panda Warriors watched sadly from a distance behind him. TK and Ken were closer to the boy.


"Davis...it'll be okay." Ken said softly.

"How can you say that?! He was DELETED before my very eyes! He's gone!!! And it's all my fault!" Davis cried, tears streaming down his face. He couldn't believe he just lost his best friend.

"Davis...I know it hurts...but it'll be okay." Ken said.

"Shaddup! Don't pretend like you know what I'm going through!" Davis cried.

"Davis...we've been through it before. We both have." TK said. Patamon flew from his hat into his arms.

"Yeah, I was deleted once but I came back!" Patamon said.

"Me too." Wormmon added.

"They come back Davis, they just have to be reborn." Ken said.

"What if you're wrong?! What if...it's different for...and it's not even Veemon that comes back!! What if he doesn't remember me!"

"Digimon don't forget Davis." Patamon said.

"Oh yeah! Well everything's so crazy in this Digiworld, how do YOU know it'll be the same for me, huh?! How do you know?! Davis shouted, as he stood with a blue digiegg in his arms. He held it up in front of him.

"This might not even be Veemon!! He may not even remember me! It's all my fault, I've lost my best friend!" He cried.

"I hate to say it but he has a point." Gatomon said softly so only the girls and Cody could hear. Everyone gasped in shock.

"What are you saying Gatomon?"

"Remember when Myotismon destroyed Wizardmon? He never came back as a digi egg, but as a spirit."

"Hey yeah, and the same thing happened with the Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon that time we were looking for Kari." Matt said, remembering when he and TK met those two tricky digimon, but their deletion had not resulted in a digiegg.

"No one knows why, but some digimon don't come back as digieggs." Gatomon said. Rika gasped, bring a hand to her mouth in shock.

"So, it's possible that..."

"Highly unlikely, but yes it is possible." Gatomon said sadly. Rika frowned and turned to Davis who was staring at the ground.

"Oh Davis." She said. Tears fell from Davis's eyes onto the digiegg in his arms.

"I've lost you...Veemon...and it's all my fault...huh?" He gasped as a hand fell on top of his, covering the digiegg. It was a soft hand wearing grey gloves. He looked up to see a beautiful dark skinned girl smiling at him sadly.

"Davis...Veemon would want you to be strong." She said, placing her hands on the egg as well. Davis stared at her.

"Rika, but...what if it's not even Veemon?" He asked. Rika smiled a reached up a hand, drying his tears with her thumb.

"You're not going to know until it hatches...but if it is Veemon, you want to take good care of him while he's an egg. I'm sure, that it has Veemon's spirit...and it knows your aura Davis. You have to take good care of him." She said, smiling down at the egg in their hands. Davis sniffled and looked down.

"I don't know if I can..."

"I'll help you." She said.

"We all will!" Jas cheered from her place beside Izzy.

"Hm! Because digidestined always help each other!" He said. Everyone nodded in agreement. Then, EVE.2, Rika's partner, floated over to Davis. She scanned the egg and was unable to determine what was inside, but she knew that the life inside was healthy.

"Egg currently 100% healthy! Needs lots of love and attention! Affirmative!" Eve.2 chirped. Rika nodded and smiled at her partner before turning back to Davis.

"So, Davis?" She asked. Davis furrowed his brows a moment. They wanted him to take care of a digimon that may not even be HIS Veemon? He had not made a bond with this new digiegg, it wouldn't be the same. And what if this digimon ended up dying because of him too in the future? He couldn't handle losing two best friends. He just couldn't, he didn't want to take that risk. He was starting to think...maybe he didn't even deserve to have a digimon. He shook his head.

"I-...I can't..." he pushed the digiegg towards Rika, who held it in her arms. It felt warm and and alive....but it needed some attention from...

"Davis?" He smiled at her sadly.

"Right now...I just can't. I...Veemon he...I can't." He said, fists clenched at his side. Rika stared at him with wide eyes...he was still in traumatic shock over loosing Veemon...respectably so. She reached an arm up and brought him into a tight hug. Davis was taken off gaurd by this action, but choked again and sobbed in her shoulder before returning the hug.

"It's okay Davis. Everything'll be okay." She said, patting his back comfortingly.

And in that moment, she could have sworn she felt whatever was inside the egg move.

(Yeah; I thought of this idea. ^^ Never really knew why Wizardmon didn't come back as a digiegg after Myotismon killed him. But the Pumpkinmon & Gotsumon didn't either. And I don't think Arukenimon did in 02. Maybe it's just digimon killed by Myotismon that don't come back, I don't know. But It worked out good for this little snippet of the plot. I needed a reason to make Davis really upset. Anyway, let me know what you think! ^^

Ahh! x3 *delighted squeal* This is great!! n__n Oh wow, I'm so glad my picture inspired you, Rika!! :3 What an honour! ^^
I like this little snippet, it was really touching :3 I wonder what happened to Veemon to make it come this far... And we all know that this is totally the way Davis would react! You portrayed him wonderfully! ^^ It's very touching and sweet also. There's even a little Jas cameo, yay! ^^ Next to Izzy ofcourse! *giggles* x3 Thank ya! n__n

I never really thought of the Wizardmon issue until you just mentioned it... Maybe it has got something to do with Digimon being destroyed by Myotismon, like you said. Or maybe they can decide for themselves if they return as a Digi-Egg or not? Maybe Wizardmon wanted to stay a spirit so he could watch over Gatomon (like he did in Season 2). There's lots of possibilities I guess =)

I'm really looking forward to see more! ^-^ You're an amazing writer! *glomps* This is really awesome! Wonderfully done, Rika!

Dude! Awww, first digi-fic! Terriffic, Rika! Bravo. *claps* I thought it was a very sweet oneshot, but it was pretty sad how Veemon would... you know. But he's safe and sound, right in his digi-egg! ^^ I'm sure he'll hatch in no time.

Rika's always going to be there for Davis, no matter what!

Aww poor Davis, Veemon will come back. Just wait and see And Rika'll be right there to heal you too.

Aww, poor Davis! *hugs him* Don't worry with Rika by your side, you'll get through it, and you'll be happy again. *nods* and you'll also have Veemon back in no time at all. ^^ Err, so how long does it take for an Digi-egg to hatch? Do you have to sit on it or something? You know, so that the egg can stay warm?

You don't really have to sit on it...you could, but I don't think it'd be comfortable. But, all you have to do, is keep the digi-egg warm by holding onto it, and rubbing it as well (it makes it hatch faster) ^^

In Digimon, episode 13 (I believe) TK's patamon digivolved into Angemon and saved the others from Devimon....but he sacrificed himself as well. After Angemon was deleted, his feathers from his wings morphed into a digi-egg and TK kept it with him until it hatched ^^

*nods* I was thinking the same thing here....if I recall it actually took Patamon's egg a couple of episodes before it hatched back into Patamon's baby form and he digivolved into Patamon again.

I'm going for the same idea here, it'll take a while for Veemon to re-hatch...but Davis is so distraught he doesn't know if he has it in him to be a good digidestined anymore really. He's kinda scared of hatching him again.

Oop! *covers mouth* Can't reveal too much! ''^^ But I have a few scenes in mind for this fanfic that'll be really cute.

It wasn't long before the team found a miniature tv in digiworld that allowed them to go back to the real world. Everyone hoped that once they got there, Davis would be in a better mood. No such luck. Rika was still holding his digiegg, and wondering why he had not asked for it yet. Currently everyone was in the computer room as they had just returned from digiworld.

"Well, that was quite a battle." Tai said. Rika noticed how Davis cringed at this. Chances were high that he wouldn't be able to talk about fighting for a while.

"What do we do now?" Paula asked with Lunira in her arms.

"I suggest that tomorrow we just rest? Maybe we can go to a more peaceful area in the digital world and just relax? We have defeated one of our most toughest enemies."

"Yeah, and my arms are sore." Yolei said, grabbing her shoulder and moving her arm around.

"Hmph!" Davis grunted in frustration.

"Davis?" Tk asked. He looked up at everyone with fire and anger in his eyes.

"How can you all even THINK of relaxing at time like this! Veemon's gone and he may NEVER come back!" Davis cried. Everyone looked at him worriedly. They all knew that Veemon would come back, and they were sure Davis knew it too...but he wasn't thinking clearly.

"Davis." Rika put a hand on his shoulder, but he flinched away.

"I'm going home." He said, picking up his backpack and heading out the door. He almost paused to call for Demiveemon, the in-training form of his best friend, but he remembered that he was gone. Cody spoke up in his soft voice,

"I don't get it. Davis knows Veemon will come back, why is he acting like such a jerk?" He said with agitation. Paula looked at Cody worriedly with Lunira held i her arms.

"Maybe he's just sad?" She asked.

"That's no reason to be mean." Cody said. She shrugged.

"You guys have to think, Davis just witnessed Veemon disappearing before his very eyes and he was powerless to stop it. It's one thing to talk and say Digimon come back but you have to remember they're living creatures, not just data. Davis is probably hurting a lot right now." Tai said. Ken nodded.

"I know when I lost Wormmon I was devastated." He said.

"And even if you KNOW that the digimon are real, and not just data...there's something about losing someone close to you in digiworld that just makes it more realistic....and painful." Matt said.

"One thing about the digital world is that it is very sensitive to emotions and thoughts though. If Davis doesn't cheer up soon who knows what side effects it could have." Kari said.

"Yeah, the world of Darkness exists in digiworld when you have any form of doubt or fear in your heart. We've almost lost Kari to it several times because it's drawn to her as she's the child of light." TK said sadly. Kari smiled at him and took his hand in her own.

"But hope always brought me back." She said sweetly, resting her head on his shoulder. TK was the child of hope, she the child of light. They just worked together. But throughout all this exchange, Rika said nothing.

"Rika?"

"Huh?" She looked up to see her PW friends smiling at her. She held the digiegg in her arms tighter.

"Don't worry, we're going to help you help Davis get through this!" Jas said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I'll have Willis call Davis tonight to see if he can't talk some sense into him. I mean, I know that boy has a thick head but seriously, we can't risk any negative energy right now when we've JUST destroyed the virus that's been plaguing the digiworld for months!" Renee said. Rika smiled a little.

"Thanks guys, " She looked down at the digiegg, "I think I'm more worried about Veemon than anything though. If the baby inside this egg doesn't sense Davis's aura and if Davis doesn't take care of it, I'm not sure it'll be a good thing." She said.

"Well then, we'll just have to make sure Davis doesn't weasle out of his responsibilities, even if he IS sad!" Allie said, making a fist of determination. Nebulos hopped from Jas's head to the egg itself, feeling it's warmth which caused his attenae to glow brightly. He smiled.

"It's definitely healthy! ^^ He has to have positive energy. I think it's best if he stays with Rika for a while! She doesn't have the crest of compassion for nothing!" He said. Rika blushed but smiled.

"Thanks guys."

"Well, I think we should all get some shut eye and regroup tomorrow."

"Sounds like a plan Tai."

"Bye guys, see you all tomorrow!" Izzy said. Everyone agreed and said their goodbyes.

Later that night, Davis was lying in his bed, staring at the ceiling and running the battle through his head over and over again, trying to see if there was anyway that he could have saved Veemon. He kept coming up with nothing. He cried out in frustration and rubbed at his hair.

"Was there nothing I could have done?!" He asked himself. He could practically hear Veemon's voice before the battle, "DAVIS! I won't let you down!" It cried, full of determination. Davis frowned even more,

"But I let you down Veemon." He thought, closing his eyes. He just couldn't rest. Suddenly his phone rang. He groggily answered it.

"Hello, you've reached the biggest loser in the world." He said. The voice on the other end laughed,

"Well, I wouldn't go that far. But you WERE acting pretty stupid today." Davis sat upright.

"Willis! How'd you get this number?!" He cried. He could practically hear Willis smirk on the other end.

"Oh, I got it from a friend, who got it from her friend, who said you wouldn't rest until she had it because you can't take no for an answer." He said. Davis frowned.

"Oh yeah, REAL specific Willis." He seethed. Willis rolled his eyes,

"Oh, take the fun out of it why don't you? I got it from Renee who got it from Rika, happy?" He asked. Rika, Davis blushed at the sound of that name. He hadn't even spoken to her since they came back...and he had left her with the digiegg. Well, better off that the egg was with her anyway, she'd take good care of it, unlike him. He'd probably accidentally sit on it or something. He didn't deserve it, even if it was Veemon inside...which he doubted. He sighed.

"Davis, what's with you? YOU were the one who told ME that digimon don't really die, remember? You even witnessed for yourself when Wormmon was deleted and came back for Ken about a week later! Ken told me! Why are you acting so hopeless?"

"Look, would you just drop it?" Davis asked.

"I will not because all your friends are worried about you!"

"Well, what makes you think you can talk some sense into me?"

"I can try! That's what a team does, help each other! You're so hardheaded you know that?!"

"And insulting me is helping me...how?"

"Well being nice isn't working. Don't you think Veemon would want you to be your strong, positive, optimistic self and keep going? He's waiting for you!"

"It's my fault that Veemon's gone in the first place. I don't deserve his friendship."

"But that's your digiegg! You can't give that up!"

"I don't have Veemon anymore, what's the point. With him gone, there is not, "Raidramon, Storm of Friendship."

"You're being irrational Davis, Veemon's coming back!"

"You don't know that. And even if he does....I can't be his friend. I couldn't help him in battle, he's better off without me."

"It's not your job to fight with your digimon, but to give them the power and strength they need to protect everything close to them! Including yourself!"

"A lot of good that did! Veemon's gone!"

"He's just recuperating Davis!"

"I don't care what you say! It's my fault that he got deleted, and had to suffer through that! I won't put him through that again! And isn't this a long distance call anyway?! Why don't you go catch a Broadway show or whatever it is you do in New York!"

"This late at night?"

"Hey, it's the city that never sleeps right?! Good bye!" Davis hung up the phone and plopped down on his bed.

"They just don't understand....I can't be Veemon's partner if he comes back...I'll hurt him again. ....and I'm making everyone else miserable." He realized. He sighed and turned over in the feeble position on his bed.

"I don't deserve anyone's friendship." He thought. Little did he know, in his D-terminal, the digiegg of friendship was starting to loose it's light blue glow, and it's tint grew just a little bit darker that night.

Meanwhile, at Rika's house....Rika was doing her homework while the digiegg sat on her table. EVE.2 hovered next to her. Rika sighed.

"Davis...I'm worried about you." She thought to herself. Suddenly her phone rang and she answered it.

"Hello? Oh, he did?! Any luck? ..... no progress huh? ....Well, thanks Renee, at least you tried. I'm glad Willis tried to talk to him. I think Davis is just closing himself off to everyone now which is the last thing he needs to do, ya know? ....OO...Erm, that may land him in a coma if you do that to him. '^^ Yes, i know he deserves it but let's try something a little less violent first, okay?" She giggled. "Yeah, okay, see you in school. Have a good night Renee, bye!" She hung up and turned to EVE.2.

"Well, Renee said Willis couldn't talk some sense into Davis, so it looks like it may be up to us EVE.2" She said. EVE.2 chirped and nodded. Rika smiled before going over to the egg and patting it. She felt something move and giggled.

"Well, hello in there! I know you're Veemon, you get plenty of rest okay! You ahve to be big and strong for Davis when you come back, he'll be happy to see you!" She said, hugging the egg. Then she looked around and find her ipod, pulling it out and putting the headphones on the egg.

"I remember you used to love my music, this should make you happy!" She said, turning to a hip-hop song and letting the music play. She could just picture the times Veemon danced and tried to sing to her songs. Hey, if music could help plants grow, then why not digimon babies? She turned to EVE.2

"EVE.2 I'm going to take a shower for the night, so you have to watch the egg, okay?" The orange robot nodded and saluted.

"Directive acknowledged. EVE.2 will watch egg, affirmative!" She said, with happy yes. Rika smiled and patted her head.

"That's my girl!" She said, before picking up her night clothes and heading to the bathroom. As she walked, she couldn't help but think of Davis and her heart went out to him. She just hoped that he could hear her, "Davis...I hope you feel better soon. Please, we need you. ....Veemon needs you.....and I need you. I'll help you through this if it's the last thing I do." She thought to herself; and she set her mind to be ready to encounter Davis in school the next morning.



PHEW!! ^^ Yay! okay, now I'm stuck again...but i'll come up with something soon. I don't want this to be too long of a fanfiction, maybe a maximum of 5 chapters. Anyway, let me know what you guys think! ^^

Aww! This is so awesome x3 Poor Davis, I do feel sorry for him... It must be awful to lose a friend like that, even if he gets reconfigured. But I'm sure Rika will pull him through it! :3 He'll realize what the right thing to do is soon! ^^ *nod nod*

Yay, new chapter! I really liked it, Rika. I liked the call between Willis and Davis, even though it was a bit deep (about Veemon's death and all...yeah) But I'm sure you'll cheer him up in no time. Who knows? Maybe Veemon will hatch when the two of you hold the egg in both arms together.

Davis slowly treeked his way down the street towards the school, his mind lost in deep thought. The werid thing was, he was thinking of everything...and nothing. He was restless, he felt like doing something...meaningful, but at the same time he felt like he was useless.

"What do I do?" He asked himself. Suddenly he heard a voice call his name,

"Davis!"

"Huh?" Looking up, he saw Rika standing there smiling with his blue digiegg in her arms. His eyes grew wide. Rika slowly came up to him.

"Hey, good morning. How are you?" She asked with a smile. Davis furrowed his eyebrows in slight confusion.

"The...digi-egg....you still..." He started, eyes focusing on the blue egge. Rika gasped and looked down at the egg in her arms,

"Uh...yeah well...ya know. I couldn't just leave him at home. He missed you." She said. Davis scoffed and looked down, mumbling lowly,

"He's an egg, how can he miss me?" Rika stared at Davis a moment before putting an arm on his shoulder,

"Just like how a baby would miss his parents, Davis." She said.

"Hm...c'mon, we're gonna be late." Davis said, walking on ahead slowly. Rika stared after him.

"Oh Davis, you have to feel better soon." She thought.

Later in class, Davis found himself dozing off.

"Veemon..." He thought to himself, as the numbers on the board began go fuzz and float around his head. When he opened his eyes he gasped. There was nothing but greyness around him.

"W-where am I?" He asked himself.

"So, you think that you weren't a good friend, huh? Within reason I mean the way you let your partner down was just horrible." A somewhat old voice said.

Davis looked around nervously, only to find a huge tree talking to him.

"Oo....a talking tree?" He asked himself.

"Hey, that's Cherrymon to you. Now listen to me pal, YOU know you coulda done more to save Veemon and you know Veemon knows it and you know everyone else knows it, they're just trying to make you feel better by not telling you the truth!"

"Truth?" Davis's eyes blank in confusion.

"Digimon sometimes DO die."

"D-die? B-but...they said"

"And they never forget. If even Veemon does come back he's gonna remember and how do you think he's gonna take it that he risked his life to save you but you didn't to save him, you call that friendship?!"

"B-but...I...it wasn't my....I mean I tried to but..."

"It doesn't matter because the fact remains that you didn't do anything! What kinda friend just sits back and let his best friend get deleted?! And that's even IF Veemon comes back, if he doesn't it's all your fault!"

"S-Stop it! STOOOP!!" Davis cried, waking up with a start. When he opened his eyes, everyone in the classroom was staring at him. He blinked twice in confusion.

"H-huh?"

"Stop Davis, well maybe you would like to come up here and start teaching then." The teacher said. A devastated look came over Davis's face as he bowed his head,

"N-no sir..." He said softly.

"Then sit down, and pay attention, or your next outburst will get you detention." The teacher said. Davis slowly sat down, head bowed in sadness. Rika, who sat a few seats away from him, stared at him worriedly.

"Something is seriously wrong with him." She thought.

That afternoon, everyone was in the computerroom.

"He just cried out like that?" Jas said nervously.

Rika was sitting in a chair and still holding the digiegg, rubbing it soothingly. She could tell some of the fuzzy warmth had left it. It had probably sensed Davis's distress from earlier. EVE.2 was hovering next to her worriedly.

"Well if you have a bad dream and you're in class chances are you'll cry out when you wake up." Renee said. Her partner was right by her side as well.

Rika shook her head,

"It was more than a bad dream."

"It was the darkness." Kari said, from her spot next to TK. Everyone looked up at her.

"The darkness, gets inside your subconscious and takes you away to a place that feeds off of the negative feelings inside of you. It's already happened to Ken too."

"And I've been there, it's not a nice place. Very dark and grey." TK added.

Then, Izzy spoke up from his spot by his computer,

"I'm worried for another reason. The digiworld, is extremely sensitive to our emotions. Apoclaymon himself was made up of the sorrow and despair of digimon's past, and Blackwargreymon was a purely depressed digimon. Even Malomyotismon used our subconscious fantasies against us. The worst digimon that we've fought have all somehow correlated with our emotions."

"So, if we don't do something soon, there may be another virus like digimon running around because of how upset Davis is?" Renee asked worriedly. Izzy nodded.

"That's what I'm afraid of." He said. Just then Yolei stood from her seat making a fist of determination.

"Well let ME slap some sense into Davis! He's gotta wake up and realize it's not all about him and it's not the end of the world!" She cried.

"It's not that simple. You guys don't know how heart-wrenching it is to watch your digimon disappear before your eyes and Davis and Veemon were really close." TK said, holding on to Patamon just a little bit tighter. Patamon looked up at TK worriedly.

There was quiet

"Maybe...we shouldn't go to digiworld today?" Niji suggested. Nebulos's antennaes dimmed sadly.

"As much as I want to go, I agree with Niji. If Davis is as abad as he is we shouldn't risk negativity in the digiworld." He said.

there was quiet, when Lunira's tiny voice piped up.

"Maybe...we could just have a nice picnic in the park today?" She said. Everyone looked towards her and Nebulos's antennaes flashed happily.

"That's a great idea Luni!" He said. Paula smiled down at her partner and snuggled her closely.

"A picnic is sure to cheer Davis up! What an awesome idea! I'm proud of you Lunira!" She said. Lunira blushed and hugged Paula back.

"I'm sure I can grab some food from my parents' store!" Yolei said. Rika smiled and nodded.

"Davis has soccer practice today, I think a picnic would be a nice way to relax afterwards." She said. Izzy started typing on his computer.

"I'll contact Tai and the others and let them know to meet us in the park later." He said. Everyone nodded in agreement, hoping that the picnic would make Davis feel better.

(I think this will be done in about 3-4 more chapters. '^^ And if you guys remember, Cherimon was the one who led Matt down the wrong path with the crest of Friendship in Season 1 and made him actually fight with Tai. I just remembered him today, so I think he's a good asset to the plot. ^^)
