It was before their eyes. They couldn’t believe it… they just couldn’t! No way.

He landed straight on his stomach, the puddle of blood darkening around him.

“N-Numbuh One…?” Nebulos called out, racing towards him. He gulped, coming across the blood. His antennas were no longer flashing with happiness.

“Nebulos,” Kyra whispered. She reached out to him, but pulled away with her ears lowered. She shook her head, looking at Chad. Her green eyes full of worry for the little blue squirt. “He… he just doesn’t understand. I…”

Chad pulled her into a reassuring hug. “It’s okay… it isn’t your fault.” He whispered, voice cracking. Kyra rested against him, feeling the tears start.

The little alien’s antennas suddenly flashed. The sector gasped along with Chad and Princess Niji.

“H-hey… Numbuh One!” Neb cried happily, kneeling down. He didn’t care about the blood. He didn’t care about any of that. “It’s time to go home…”

Rachel buried her face into her hands, turning away. She couldn’t bear it. Not this… Until she heard a hoarse moan.

“N…N…Nebulos?” a weak Nigel called out. He could hardly lift his head. Nebulos grinned.

“Numbuh One! We were so worried!” he cried, hugging his leader. Nigel shook his head, and ordered for the little one to pull away. Nebulos did so, spreading out his arms.

“C’mon, Numbuh One! Time to go home!” He said.

“I… I’m afraid I won’t be… going with you…” Nigel managed to speak out. Nebulos’s eyes widened, with a frown formed on his face.

“What…? Why? Y-you’re just angry ‘cause the alien got away… r-right?” Nebulos certainly didn’t want to think of this.

Nigel Uno was his hero. He looked up to him, every single day!

“…I’m sorry…” Nigel spoke out, feeling more pain. The alien’s daggers slashed throughout his entire body! “I…I won’t be going with you.”

Nebulos shook his head, furiously. “No…no, you have to!” he cried out. “C’mon, Numbuh One! G-get up!” Nebulos tried his best to push the boy, but all his strength just broke in two.

Nigel only closed his eyes. “Tell Rachel…tell her… I’ll never leave her. I’ll never leave any of you…” he whispered.

Last words.

Nebulos realized he was crying now, and Nigel wasn’t going to return home. He shuddered, and was picked up by Kyra who snuggled him, petting his milk-white hair.

“Shh…” she whispered motherly. Nebulos sobbed into her chest, not knowing when to stop.

He didn’t even think he could stop. Rachel was crying, too. Harder. She was pressed against Zinc, sobbing nonstop. Zinc wrapped his front paws and wings around her, and landed a short nuzzle with his snout in her hair.

He was truly her brother.

And she truly loved Nigel with the depts. of her heart. Zinc knew that for sure.

It's a new GKND story I'm gonna be working on now. I wanted to post it here... I don't know if I'll post it on FF.net/dA this time. It's for you guys, 'cause lots of our characters will be featured in it!

But the plot basically is, Nigel dies from a bloody battle with an adult with razors/curved swords for hands. (I got the idea from re-reading my fic "GKND: Nightmare") And he'll become a guardian angel towards Rachel and Nebulos.

Rachel = Nigel's lover
Nebulos = Like a son, or a little brother. Jas always stated that Neb looked up to Nigel as his hero.

And the Nebulos/Nigel scene... it was inspired by Mufasa's death in TLK. ^^;

I'll need to update more later, hopefully!

I'm even planning a chapter where she accepts a date with Zarzig... and things go horribly wrong. (As in, she doesn't want to be with him. And Ruby's getting awfully suspicous... *shifty eyes*)

Moment of Silence.

“What… do we do n-now?” Zinc asked, looking up from the sobbing Rachel. He held close to her.

“I suppose…” Chad thought, glancing to every operative. “We leave. Princess Niji… can I ask of you of a small order?”

Niji wiped her tears with a shuddery ‘yes’. “What would you like for me to do?”

“Will you… carry Numbuh One’s… body back to the s-ship?” asked Chad, stammering. He was trying to act strong as possible, but Kyra saw that he was crying in the inside. She held Nebulos, like a little child.

“I…I will.” The princess nodded her head, and then created a small force field around Nigel’s body, lifting him up into the air. The blood remained cold, hardened on the floor.

Whispers came from all over as half of the team and Chad returned to the base.

“What? Nigel Uno dead?”

“That’s impossible!”

“Look at Numbuh 362, she’s so lonely…”

Rachel was spending her time riding on Zinc’s back. Her brother’s wings were folded, moving his way through the crowds. Rachel’s head was bent, where her eyes were blocked away from being seen by her bangs of hair.

The aliens from all around didn’t expect of getting a show of looking up at a dead Nigel Uno held in Niji’s field. Gasps filled the halls, with more talk.

“Alright everyone,” said a calm Jamaican accent. Numbuh Infinity appeared, waving his hands in a spread to settle down the kids. “Don’t be alarmed. It is only a…” He thought for a moment hearing his voice crack when he saw Nigel in the field, lying there dead.

“Go on back to your sectors,” Chad ordered with his voice rising. “Nothin’ to see here! Go on!”

The kids groaned, wanting to see and hear more of the corpse. But they did as Chad ordered; going back to their own sectors. But two familiar kids stood by.

Zarzig and Ruby.

Two others joined Infinity, which were Inky and Anita. Soon, the rest of Sector GV (Lunira, EVE.2) were there, too. Kyra, Nebulos, Zinc and Rachel were the only participates that went along.

EVE.2 hovered to Rachel, and noticed the upset expression on her face. The robot whistled cheerfully, and she said. “3-6-2, mission complete?”

Rachel mumbled, shaking her head. EVE.2 heard a shudder. She looked down to Zinc. “Ziiinc, directive?”

Zinc tried his best to talk, but busted into tears like a wailing child.

“N-Numbuh One is dead.” said a soft voice.

Lunira gasped, placing both hands over her mouth in shock. “Neb?” Nebulos sniffed, escaping Kyra’s arms and stood his ground.

Lunira’s eyes leaked, rushing over to the little blue alien and pulled him into a gihugic hug. “Oh…oh, no… not…”

Nebulos smiled a bit, petting her hair and ribbons. “I-it’s gonna hurt for a while, Lun… but you know what?”

“What?” Lunira asked, gazing up at him with tears. Nebulos wiped her tears with an extra hand, then placing two on her shoulders.

“Numbuh One’s still with us… he’ll never leave us!” cried Nebulos, trying to put on a happy smile. He pointed to his chest, smiling more. Rachel's eyes looked up, seeing how happy Nebulos was trying to be for everyone. They all put on sad smiles, remembering the good times they had with their leader, Nigel Uno of Earth.

Yet, Ruby had a time of crying Zarzig did nothing but tease.

I bet he's glad that he's dead, ha! So he could get away from your crazy 'Love' that you had for him!

That struck Rachel like an arrow through the chest.

But it wasn't Cupid's Arrow.

It was an arrow of depression, and she had been swallowed up into it. She whispered to Zinc of taking her back to her room, and which he did so.

Numbuh One was gone.

Nigel Uno was gone.

Nigel was gone.

He wasn't coming back... not now, not ever. Rachel had lost all hope for herself.

And it was going to get worse.

Much worse.

This is conclusion to the first chapter. ^^ I wrote just a bit when the storm woke me up last night, and holy crap is was loud.

I'm gaining more ideas, too! So stay tuned, everyone. I think Zoey will finally make an appearance and try to cheer up Rachel. ^^ They're future "sisters-in-laws", afterall!

Chad tries to talk with Rachel too, but she pushes him away... and Kyra talks with him about it. Which leads to making her special coco for him. :3

Chapter Two; Assigned

“Oh…my head…”

The British boy rose, sitting up. “Where… am I?” he asked, looking around.

This was definitely not the place to be. It was too quiet… too… peaceful? Fluffy clouds were everywhere of pink, golden, even lights of blue.

“Guys!” Nigel called out, with concern. “Neb, where are you, little buddy? Ziiinc! Numbuh 274, Princess Niji! Come on out, now! … Rachel?” He frowned, with his eyes narrowed. “Where in the Galactic am I, anyway? How—” He touched his stomach, gasping. Looking down, he noticed that his stomach was completely healed!

“What the—I’m healed…! Wait a moment… I’m healed?” Nigel could hardly believe it! All of the pain—gone like that. “This…Ynda…did she heal me?! I need to thank her!”

“Oh, it wasn’t Ynda.” Called a voice.

“… Then who?”

“Don’t you understand, my young friend? You’re completely healed once you’ve come up here.” The voice was coming closer.

A young man arrived wearing a springy-green and baggy long shirt with large wings and halo.

“AN ADULT!” Nigel screamed, motioning in a pose.

“…Angel.” corrected the sandy-blonde hair man.

“Adult!” Nigel shouted.

“Angel.”

“ADULT! You’re an adult, what have you done with my friends, you cruel, winged-adult like creature… whatever adult-thing you are?!”

“Kid, will you calm down?” asked the young angel with a nasty frown on his face.

“I will NEVER calm down unless you tell me where my friends are, and where in the Universe am I?! Candy Mountain!?” Nigel raged.

The angel face-palmed, and shook his head. “Dude, just…” He sighed, and looked up. “You’re in heaven. You died.”

Nigel stared at the winged-man in disbelief.

“My goodness, JR! Do we have a new visitor?” A new voice emerged from the clouds, revealing a golden light upon the Brit and man.

Another angel, who was older—much older than the first one. The other, JR to be exact, nodded.

“Yeah, Uncle Stuart. Right on time.” JR rolled his eyes. “Kids these days…”

Old Uncle Stuart chuckled, walking over to the newcomer of heaven.

“E-excuse me.” Nigel raised his hand. Stuart clasped his hands together. “Yes, young man?”

The old angel had a sparkle in his eye, and seemed much friendlier than his nephew. There was something about him that made Nigel feel warm inside. Must be the old…smileyness.

“Your ‘nephew’ told me of myself dying. Where…I… is this actually heaven?” Nigel asked, looking curiously around the clouds. Stuart only chuckled with a grin, nodding his head excitedly.

“Yes, yes my dear boy, this is heaven!” He said clearly. “And you, my boy, have a special job to attend to. Very soon…”

Nigel raised an eyebrow. “Alright, old guy… what do I exactly have to do with this, ‘job’?”

“Hey, respect the elders.” JR grinned, teasing him. Nigel blushed. “Sorry.”

“Now… have you even seen yourself yet?” the young man asked. The Brit thingyed an eyebrow, wondering what he was talking about.

“Whatever do you mean, JR?”

“Reach out to your back, and tell us what you think about them.” JR said softly.

Nigel did as he said, gasping in surprise. He felt feathery milk-white wings. They had sprawled out all by themselves.

“They fit perfectly for you.” said Stuart with a cheerful grin on his face. “Your halo does too!”

“My…halo?” said Nigel, reaching out and touching his round, golden ring above his hair. His fingers brushed against it. Suddenly, a blur of images came across him.

“My friends… I… I’m dead… how are they facing it? My death, how are they all facing it?” Nigel’s voice cracked, with his sapphire eyes nearly tearing behind his goggles.

“They’re already facing it as we speak. They’re grieving, but they’re pulling through. But… would you like to take a little visit?” offered Stuart, with a wide smile and twinkle in his eye.

His silver hairs matched greatly with his grin.

“…May I?” Nigel asked in a kind tone. Suddenly, the old angel took his hand with another nod.

“Of course you can, Nigel. Of course!”

“Your friends are… very odd with their appearances.” stated JR with a clear of his throat. Stuart laughed. “Now, JR. This isn’t the time to be unfriendly with our new guest!”

“Yeah… sorry, Nigel.”

“It’s okay. Really.” Nigel smiled. JR sounded a bit sour… usually when Nigel did on stressed-days. Like a future adult of himself. JR usually over-worked himself before he became an angel in heaven before he died.

They were gazing down in the main living room of GKND’s Sector GV, looking at everyone in their usual spots. Yet, Kyra or Rachel wasn’t able to be seen.
“Where’s Numbuh 7.sol at?” Nigel asked, curiously looking around.

“You mean the long-eared purple female? She’s with the teenager.” JR said. “She seems to be very close with him.” He smirked. Nigel blinked. “He’s crying on the inside, too.”

“The… the inside?” Nigel could hardly believe it. He thought that Chad would actually be happy that he died! Then HE would be the Best operative from Earth.

Old Stuart nodded. “Like I told you before, everyone’s grieving.”

Nigel then realized. “…Rachel…” he whispered. He then started floating towards to her bedroom, seeing that she had a visitor with her.

It was a dragon. Zoey! From planet Dranice, Princess of the kingdom. She was a very light purple with golden-blonde short hair and scales and an underbelly.

“Are you sure don’t want to spend a few days with me?” the princess dragon asked kindly, giving the female human a small nuzzle. Rachel smiled softly, stroking the side of her snout.

“Thank you for the offer, Zoey… but I… I can’t right now.” Rachel whispered. She was still very upset of the event which was only a few hours ago.

Nigel listened in onto their conversation, floating on his little cloud.

Zoey smiled, wrapping the girl into a hug and nuzzled her again, this time longer. “Oh… all right then.” She said. “Anytime you want to talk about it, you’re free to ask Zincy to fly!”

Rachel sniffed, hugging her future sister-in-law back. “T-thank you…” she stammered. “But I… I think I want to be alone right now, if that’s all right with you.” Zoey nodded.

“I understand.” She said.

She hurried along out of the room, towards to Zinc. He was lying down on the floor, his chin on his paws with his eyes drooping. Stained tears stiffened around his eyes, watching Nebulos trying to cheer up little Lunira.

“There are tasks for you.” said Stuart, only his voice hearing in Nigel’s mind.

“What? What do you mean ‘tasks’?” Nigel asked.

“You are assigned as Rachel McKenzie and your little friend Nebulos’s Guardian.” JR’s voice rang in Nigel’s ears.

“Guardian? A… Guardian angel?”

“Yes.” JR and his uncle said together.

Nigel turned his head, seeing a smiling Nebulos making Lunira laugh from all the good times they had with their leader. He was very happy for them, and made sure nothing would happen to Nebulos.

He then turned his head back to Rachel, who was lying in her bed. She was holding a red rainbow monkey that was close to her chest.

She couldn’t hold them back. The tears fell, damping the sheets of her bed. This made Nigel’s heart sink.

“Rachel… oh Rachel, please don’t cry.” He whispered. He lowered himself, floating to the bed. He stood, smiling with satisfaction on his landing. He lied down in the bed, right next to the crying blonde.

“…Guardian.” He repeated to himself, softly. Nigel reached out; trying to touch Rachel’s shoulder, but it was no use. He couldn’t. It only faded through!

“…Rachel… Rachel, I’m here… I’m right here!” Nigel shouted with total concern in his voice. But Rachel couldn’t hear him. Couldn’t see him. Couldn’t feel or touch him. She could only grieve for him.

He felt like crying. Nigel shuddered, nuzzling himself into the blonde’s shoulder as he went into it. His arms reached out, wrapping them around Rachel’s waist. Even though she couldn’t feel him… he wanted to be there for her.

To be her guardian angel. And soon to be Nebulos’s, too!

He would protect both of them, heck; he would protect his entire team if he had to! It was his job.

His destiny. His new destiny. It had finally been revealed to him.

Suddenly, he noticed that Rachel had calmed down… her shivering stopped, and she had fallen into a deep sleep. Nigel’s eyes drooped, and wrapped his wings around the both of them for warmth.

Now Rachel wasn’t cold at all. She nuzzled into her pillow, sniffing lightly.

For that moment, she actually thought Nigel was with her, and watching over her.

She felt that she wasn’t alone, and that Nebulos was totally right on this one with no exceptions.

Nigel didn’t leave her. He had never left her.

He was in her memories, in her dreams… and forever in her heart.

But it will take serious time for her to heal. For everyone to heal over Nigel’s death.

But everyone thought that Rachel would take it the hardest.

That's it for chapter two. Chapter 3 will be here soon, I need to plan! ^^ Let's hope I get this chapter completed before Saturday... Gotta wake up Reeeaaalll early. (Kentucky Kingdom awaits for contest in chior!)

Probably Rachel talking to Chad of feeling Nigel was with her... and Chad trying to believe her, but she's trying her best to keep herself happy with her memories.

Which leads to Chad crying... and Kyra comforting him, then to Rachel. And Zarzig asking Rachel on a... date. O___O Please, don't kill me! *hides behind couch as they come for me*

Aha. So, this is the new Galactic Kids Next Door version of "Guardian Angel" that you were telling me about, Allie? It looks pretty good so far. It looks like Nigel will be willing and able to protect both Rachel and their Galactic Kids Next Door friends, and I wonder what will happen next.

No problem, Allie. Hopefully, Nebulos and Lunira will be able to stay strong for Rachel, and I imagine that she'll be doubly happy if she realizes that Nigel has returned. In the meantime, I would like to think that Zarzig won't do anything... crazy during that date, but perhaps Rachel will move along just fine in the end.
