This is... old. It's on dA, but I never have posted it on FF.net. 'Fraid that the KND section is slowly dying. ^^; But still, there are some stories out there that I'm planning to read. *nod*
And there was a Fairy-fied KND story that was baed off Thumbelina, but I never went around finishing it... maybe I will. One day. ^_^
Anyway... yeah, this was typed out of the blue, so enjoy!
1/362 = King/Queen of the Fairy Realm; Married with little baby Eli. :3
3/4 = Proposal, yay!
2/5 = Wedding plans!
Zinc = Trusty "steed". XD I just love me' Zincy! :3 *nod, nod*

Winter[/i]
~**
Years have passed. The frost was only beginning on the tree bark, and the milk-white moon shined down. A powerful beam of ice from a large flying dragon was in view.
The fairy queen was sitting on one of the best branches, holding a long, red blanket. It revealed to have a little infant inside—male.
The young queen’s eyes were looking down at the little prince, and sighed. Her long and waving hair was the color of golden flowers in autumn, and she wore a long-sleeved dress to keep warm that was the color of royalty purple, and two white stripes across.
Her wings were a color of light aqua that gleamed beautifully in the sky of stars. They fluttered slowly, welcoming the newborn into the world.
Queen Rachel looked to the sky again, seeing the dragon finishing up the touches to the frost and snow. The winds chilled, and the air was frozen.
Winter had come.
The young queen lowered her eyes to the meadows, seeing an orange and green spark dancing off into the distance. They twirled, whirling with their wings fluttering over the frosted flowers.
Wally and Kuki.
The queen’s eyes turned to the neighboring tree, seeing a both blues of dark and sky having a friendly argument of having a little fun with the tree’s bark.
“Oh come on, Abs! Just a carving?”
“Are you outta your mind, Hoag?” the dark-skinned fairy slapped her fiancé over the head with her cap.
“Ouch! …Maybe.” The skinny male wriggled his eyebrows trying to play her. Abby only shook her head.
“If ‘da King catches ya’ll, he’ll have your head!” Abby nuzzled Hoagie’s brown cap, feeling his auburn hair poke out. “And Abby doesn’t want ‘dat, no way!”
“But—”
“No.” Abby ordered. “The tree gives signs of life.”
Hoagie stared at her. “… Honey, it’s dead. Winter kills everything.”
Abby shook her head furiously. “No. Not this winter.” She said. “This winter we’re gonna be much careful. Hoagie, look out into the world!” She grabbed him by the shoulder, facing the fields of snow.
“Out there… is beauty. Out there is life of the ice, sleet and frozen rain, fool! Don’t you get it?”
“So you’re saying we should have our wedding this amazzzing winter?” Hoagie purred with a sly grin. Abby face-palmed, and nudged his shoulder.
“No… what I’m sayin’ is… This winter, is going to be one gihugic adventure for us! For us and our children.” said Abby with a smile.
Hoagie started whining. “But, but, but—can we STILL have our wedding IN winter?” His lips trembled, trying on the puppy-eyes behind his goggles. Abby only could grin, and kissed him.
“Of course, Hoagie.” She said. Once they were done kissing, Hoagie looked to the white meadows.
“You know… I didn’t know Wallabee was so… feminine with his dancing skills.” He grinned. Abby whacked him with her hat the second time.
“Oh hush-up, Hoag. Leave’em alone.”
Out in the fields, Kuki and Wally slowly settled down landing on a mushroom that was probably the last thing on the list to frost. They held each other, watching the snow fall.
“Zinc really outdone himself this year,” Kuki giggled. “I’m sure King Nigel is very impressed.”
Silence.
“Hey, Wally?” Kuki asked.
“What?”
“Do you take back… what you said about Zinc years ago?” Kuki asked him. He felt her green wings flutter on his stomach, relaxing himself.
Wally pondered. “Eh… yeah. Ah’ guess so.”
Kuki snuggled up to him, and looked at him. “He’s large. He packs gihugic ice shards, and a fury!” Wally wrinkled his nose, and waved it off with his hand.
“Meh… whatever.” He said bluntly. Kuki shook her head with a giggle. “You’re just jealous!”
“…Am not.” Wally shot back.
“Are too!” Kuki laughed, her nose touching his. Wally’s cheeks flamed pink, nuzzling his nose to hers in response.
“Kuki…Ah…gotta ask ya something.” He said quietly. Kuki was all ears with a large smile on her face.
“What is it, Wally?”
Wally’s cheeks reddened harder, and looked at her in the eye. He took her hand, placing the other upon it. “Kuki… will you… Will you marry me?” he asked.
The female fairy’s violet eyes lit up. A gasp escaped her lips, giving her full attention to him. Wally only smiled. “What do ya say? Will ya marry me?” he asked again, gently this time.
Kuki only snuggled into his arms, giggling. “I will! Oh, I will, Wally!” she laughed, nuzzling his chest.
Both pairs of wings fluttered.
No need for butterflies.
Finally the king had returned from his journey of covering the entire realm to snow. He set on the branch, wearing a warm red tunic and his wings glistened in the moonlight. The dragon flapped his wings, and nuzzled his master.
“You did amazing work, Zinc.” The young king patted his dragon’s snout, and hugged him.
Zinc only grinned, wagging his tail as he was in midair. “Aw, thanks boss!” He licked King Nigel, and landed on a nearby branch for watch duty.
“Rachel?” Nigel whispered, setting down on the branch. The queen gasped, turning her head towards her husband.
“…Nigel.” She murmured, a smile placing on her face. Her wings fluttered, and held the baby prince close to her chest.
The king smiled happily at his family, and walked over. He sat, pulling his wife into his arms. He kissed her hair, smelling the fragrance. The queen giggled lightly, and nuzzled his cheek in return.
Nigel smiled more, looking down at their son. His little wings were full of flutter, and Rachel warmed him up by snuggling more into the blanket.
The pair looked to the snow and stars, seeing that the frost had covered the realm. The fairy king wrapped an arm around his wife, and kissed her. She kissed him back, yet unable to wrap her arms around him to deepen.
They pulled away, looking into one another’s eyes. Together the king and queen of the realm looked out to the night sky, seeing that winter had officially begun.
And it were to be the best winters in the history of seasons change.
