Hi everyone. Well, here's a short-story/oneshot of a few of my characters. There's a few plotholes in this story, too. I hope I can explain them in my other ideas for this novel idea.
Anywho, enjoy the cruddy titled-story! XD
Characters and plot belongs to me.

The Ice Temple
The ice temple that was made home of the ice-dragons was the coldest ruins in all of Dralona. They worshipped the magnificent glaciers as a gift from their ancestors, and most of the humans who would ever visit the coldest area on the planet.
Especially Prince Basil.
He and his friend Sara have been sent to protect the ancient elder Drasnow from the clutches of Drakly and his Darkens. Dransnow was white as the snow itself, standing on two feet with his front paws grasping his royal scepter.
“Ah, Brother of Flames!” said old Dransnow, bowing his wings towards RedStar. “What brings you here, so far away from the center kingdom?”
“There is a great danger coming,” answered RedStar with a slow bow to the great guardian. He was quite young, but very mature for his age. His red skin and scales shined redder than his fire-breath. “Elder Dransnow, we’ve come to protect you away from the Darkens.”
“Darkens? My goodness, what in the galaxies are they up to now?”
In puzzlement, Basil and Sara looked at one another. The Darkens have appeared before?
“What do you mean by ‘Up to now’, sir?” inquired Sara. Her long, pony-tail of light strawberry blonde hair waved as she tilted her head. Basil bit his bottom lip, trying hard to resist the smell of Sara’s hair. But he remained where he stood; listening on what the old dragon had told the three adventurers.
“Hmm? Ah, yes… This isn’t the first, young girl.” Drasnow dipped his neck, squinting his black eyes at Sara. “Once the purple dragon is born, the hunger of the Darkens comes to be.”
“There are others?” It was now Basil’s turn to talk. His brown eyes looked full with curiosity.
“Oh, there were.” said Drasnow.
“What in the Dralona do you mean?”
Sara looked at the boy. “Every purple dragon hatches from an egg, learning all sorts from the elder purple. Once the elder purple dragon loses its glow of scales and is finally deceased, it must pass onto the young one. And so, the cycle starts all over.”
Drasnow chuckled with delight. “Young one. You sure know your dragonology.”
Blushing lightly, Sara rubbed her arm. “Well, I happen to do lots of research in books, sir Drasnow.” She said. She reached out, petting RedStar’s snout.
“RedStar is my best friend, and I’ve wanted to learn so much more about the other elementals than just fire. Purple is true royalty.” She glanced to Basil and smiled. “RedStar and I have been friends for years."
“The purple dragons,” interrupted Basil, “What do the Darkens and their new master want with them? They’ve already have captured the Wind and Sunlight elders. Who knows what they’ll do next!”
“If the Wind and Sunlight elders unleash their true darkness along with the other elemental dragons upon the purple, he will turn vicious and wild. Darkness will overpower, and all over the lands.” explained Drasnow.
RedStar’s ears perked, looking anxiously around. “And if Drakly succeeds, he’ll rule the entire planet with the Royalty Purple.”
“Not if I can help it.”
Sara, RedStar, and the old DraSnow faced Basil.
“The Prince of Dralona will never let a Darken Master as the new king.” Basil stated. His eyes narrowed, and smiled. “We’ll stop him at once, Elder Drasnow.”
“We shouldn’t rush,” said RedStar, “We have plenty of time, Basil.”
“That’s another thing.” Basil pointed out. “My friends are encountering the Ground and Starlight dragon areas right now.”
“More humans? Oh, how exciting!” exclaimed Drasnow. “…Or is it extra-terrestrials?” He scratched the tip top of his front scale.
“Both,” said Basil and Sara in unison.
“Wonderful! I should settle a meeting with the other remaining Elders of the areas.” Drasnow suggested. RedStar agreed. It wouldn’t be ‘wonderful’ if the others would have a battle with the other fierce elemental dragons.
“The sky is settling to nightfall,” murmured RedStar. He gazed out the crystal window, seeing the stars appear.
“You’ve all have had such a journey so far, come and rest up.” offered Drasnow.
“Are you sure?” said Sara, feeling hesitative of the decision. Basil smiled, and wrapped an arm around her.
“Don’t worry,” he said reassuringly. “The three of you will be safe, I promise.” Sara looked at him, gratefulness in her eyes.
“The Darkens won’t make it here until late tomorrow in the evening, I’m supposing.” RedStar said, walking towards his masters. He leaned down, nuzzling Sara. “They’re at the bottom of Dralona.”
Basil nodded. He kept Sara close, trying to make her feel warm and safe. Drasnow then called for a young silver dragon with blue scales to lead RedStar and his humans to their room in the temple.

After a few minutes, they have reached their room. It was full of snow and ice, but it seemed like to be the best room of all in the temple. It was large and classy, which Basil grew up liking.
“I hope you like it, your majesty.” said the young silver dragon. Basil patted his snout, and nodded thankfully.
“Like it? I love it! My friends and I couldn’t ask for more.” said Basil. The silver dragon bowed his head and blue-webbed wings, and then flew out of the room.
“I never could imagine how beautiful it is on the top of the planet,” Sara said, her eyes gazing out to the stars. “The crystal, glaciers… all of it is breathtaking.”
Basil’s eyes moved to the Sara’s face, watching her admire the night sky. All of the moons of color – Red, deep blue, silver, green, golden yellow, milk-white, and purple shined down on the waters and ice of the area.
“Yes… breathtaking.” He repeated in a whisper, not able to keep his eyes off of her.
“Alright now, time for bed.” said RedStar, breaking Basil’s trance. The red dragon curled down on the icy floor, spreading his wings apart. “You don’t want to freeze.”
Basil unzipped his pack, taking out a large red blanket for the both of them. He then lay down, resting his head on the skin of RedStar’s. It was very warm and cozy, which Basil thought of RedStar having flames burn inside of his body.
Sara then joined them, lying down beside Basil and bumped against RedStar’s warm skin. All of a sudden she felt that a blanket was spread out on her. Looking to Basil, he smiled.
“It turns very cold once the temperature drops.” He said. Sara nodding, feeling her arms shiver already. Basil noticed. He offered more blanket, but she refused. The boy gave her an apprehensive look.
“W-what?” Sara stammered. She sat there, shivering under the cover in her blouse and skirt. Basil smiled, grasping back the blanket. He then got another idea. Unzipping his pack again, he pulled out yet another. It was lightly colored blue, and he used it as an under-sheet.
“Good thinking.” RedStar approved of this idea.
Basil and Sara moved away from the spot where they settled in, and Basil swept it over with the light-blue blanket, and lied down once again. Sara took this offer, and sat too. Then she lifted the red blanket, having it cover them whole.
“Let’s hope it doesn’t freeze under us while we’re sleeping.” said Basil.
Sara giggled. Basil was only happy to hear her laugh again. The warmth of RedStar’s body was heating more as the two teens rested up their heads against him.
Moments later it was pure dark. Basil and Sara were snuggled up, where the girl was asleep. The heat of RedStar’s body was excellent.
The dragon was curled up, his snout near Sara’s neck. He breathed, and she had felt his warm breath against her skin. Basil was lying there, watching the two of them sleep. He smiled and reached out. Sara’s cheek was soft, and the warmth from RedStar was tender. He stroked his hand over her cheek a few times.
He had remembered he met her for the first time, he and his friends. They were training with swords on Basil’s agenda for the day, and saw a human girl watching him behind the barrels of liquids.
Basil wouldn’t ever forget Sara’s eyes. He wouldn’t allow himself to.
He wouldn’t forget of the things she taught him about RedStar, and talking of his older siblings, FlameStar and EmberStar. RedStar was now last of the fire dragons. His older brother and sister were killed by Darkens, and had come for the oldest.
Basil shook off the thoughts, not wanting to bring pain of loss to Sara and her dragon. Their beloved FlameStar and EmberStar… But it was a noble sacrifice, and RedStar was safe.
For now.
“Basil?” an awaking voice asked. Basil looked at Sara, who was waking up. She stretched, and looked at him.
“What are you still doing up?” she whispered.
“I can’t sleep.” He said. Licking his lips, he had hoped she wouldn’t find out all he wanted to do is look at her beautiful face. Sara smiled.
“Do you need more cover?”
“I’m fine, thank you.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. But…”
Sara raised an eyebrow. Basil coughed slightly, wondering to himself how a girl rested on a boy’s chest.
“I’ve been given thought into this, and I would like to try it.”
“Try what… exactly?” Sara felt her cheeks flame pink, thinking that it would be inappropriate.
“Would you do the honors of lying on my chest for the rest of the evening?” asked Basil hopefully. She blinked.
“Oh…well, of course your majesty.” said Sara, grinning. She cuddled up to him, having her head on his chest. Her hair felt like silk, and brushed Basil’s face. He shuddered in enjoyment.
“Sorry,” Sara apologized, looking up at him.
“No… quite alright.” Basil said, clearing his throat.
The two were staring.
Without thinking of any hint of hesitation, Basil leaned down and kissed Sara’s forehead. A tingle was sent down her back. She smiled at him.
“Goodnight, Basil.”
And then Sara buried her face away into Basil’s clothed chest, smiling to herself in happiness. Basil was pleased. He held up one hand, stroking her long strawberry-blonde hair, and the other was resting on Sara’s back.
Basil didn’t feel happy as this in years. All he did was smile through the night, even if he was sleeping.
