His job now done for the time being, Etoile hopped out of his seat and tried to figure out what to do, as everyone seemed to be busy and confident in their jobs. Shrugging, he was about to continue explore his map when he saw Nalo wandering around the ship aimlessly, as though she wasn't exactly sure what she should be doing.
Determined to make her smile, Etoile pulled more water from the faucet in the bathrooms and shaped the water into five spheres floating in the air. "Hey, Nalo, look!" Grinning, he began to toss them higher, beginning a pattern of complicated levitation/juggling that he was pretty skilled at, after learning the trick so that he could preform it for his younger sister. The water bounced light off of their spherical surfaces, sending shining glimpses across the walls.

JAS STOP WRITING SO MUCH XD I feel so inferior when you post so muuuch! XD
---
"Nalo, look!" the metallic girl spun round to find the source of the yell, and noticed Etoile, and the juggling act above his head. Briefly distracted, her eyes tried to lock onto the moving spheres, but due to them moving, she just kept looking back and forth between the five balls of water. Nalo didn't exactly look all that impressed, but the fact that she was still watching the act surely meant she wasn't completely uninterested.

Etoile's lower lip jutted out slightly when it appeared that she wasn't very impressed with his trick. Which, to be fair, probably wasn't that amazing anyway, but that meant that he was going to have to try harder. He could throw them around farther, but in the smaller area of the rocket, he wasn't willing to try it.
So while he tried to figure out how to make his trick more amazing while still confining it to a smaller space, he was distracted. Which, for a telekinetic being, was not a good thing.
One of the spheres of water shot out and splashed across Nalo's chest, and Etoile was so startled that he forgot about the rest. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I didn't-"
He didn't get the chance to finish as the rest of the spheres of water dropped on top of his head, rushing down his small frame and soaking him clean through. He looked almost like a wet mutt, trying to see through his thick, dampened curls.
". . . Oops." Without warning, he began to laugh, mostly at himself, half with embarrassment and half with amusement. "I think I need to just lock myself in a closet or something until we get there," he mused softly, wiping of his antennae.

A small gasp of surprise escaped Nalo's throat as the cold liquid hit her clothing, quickly seeping through and chilling her skin. She hurried to brush off what droplets were left on top, and then pulled the fabric away from her chest so she could wring the water out of it, tugging it back into shape once she was done. Wiping off some excess liquid which has splashed her neck, she glanced at Etoile, who had managed to soak himself in the process as well. The girl couldn't help but snicker and chuckle and soon whole-heartedly laugh at him appearance and predicament. Her laughs were of course completely silent, but the amused expression on her face said what her larynx could not.

"I'm sorry," the yellow alien feebly apologized again, glancing down at the mess on the floor. He figured he should clean that up, so he siphoned the water back into the bathroom, letting it pour down the drain and disappear.
Not willing to try anything else, and having now gotten himself into more mayhem in a few hours than most people got themselves into during their entire life, he retreated to his chair, grabbed his map, and slumped down in it, entirely assuming that Nalo wished to avoid the clumsy alien for a little while.

Once she had herself under control again (although still grinning), Nalo looked at the yellow alien, to accept his apology, but noticed he had already turned away. Her grin turning to a frown, she floated around so she was stood beside the chair, looking down at him inquisitively. Had her laughing offended him? Or was he worried she was going to hurt him, like Ynda? The thought of him comparing her to that green squirt sent a sharp needle of anger through her, but it passed quickly, and she just examined first his expression, then glanced down at the map.

The presence of another alien surprised Etoile, and he looked up to see the same alien that he had just pelted with a sphere of water. He had almost expected her to be angry, but seemed like he had misjudged her, or at least reacted too quickly out of embarrassment. "You're not mad?" The question felt childish on his tongue, but he wanted to make sure, lest she pummel him with a limb that looked far more formidable than his own scrawny arms.

The girl raised an eyebrow, as if to ask why she would be mad in the first place. Quickly lightening her expression with a smile, she looped one of her physical arms around his shoulders and leaned in close, slotting her form with his the best she could. Her short, raven hair hung limply, just centimeters from her friend's cheek, not quite close enough for him to feel the texture. But the little body heat radiating from her arm was most definitely detectable, once the initial chill passed.

His smile grew as Nalo leaned in close to him, indicating that she wasn't mad at all. The warmth radiating from her body was relaxing, if not entirely pleasant. He wanted to know more about her, but that was difficult, considering their verbal barrier. So he draped an arm around her shoulders, his other arm rummaging for a pen and some parchment, and then asked quietly, "So what's your planet like?"
He figured that if she wanted to talk, she would write. And if she didn't want to, then he was contented to just sit in peaceful silence.

A smile curved onto Nalo's face when her gesture was warmly returned, and she momentarily let herself relax, just enjoying the moment.
"So what's your planet like?" she heard the question as if it came from far away, partially due to the lack of volume, and partially due to the lapse in her concentration. Glancing towards his eyes, she was about to reach for the factfile when she noticed the pen and parchment.
Blinking, it slowly dawned on her that maybe he wanted her personal opinion rather than the computer generated facts she was in possession of. She had no problem with giving them; it just wasn't what she was expecting.
Gazing up at him again, she steadily took the two items and began to write, a little slower than she did in the white hall earlier, since time was at her leisure for the moment.
"It's pretty big, one of the biggest in our stellar system," she wrote, in carefully crafted cursive handwriting. "The environment is mostly carbon allotropes and metallic organisms. We have organic organisms as well, but only those which have adapted to the abundance of metal particles. Our technology is getting quite advanced, too, but since we can do most anything with our own masses--" she waved the metal limb to indicate what she meant, "--we don't need much. Most of it is just to make life easier, not to improve it."
She paused for a few seconds, not sure what else to add. "My species is awake during the dark hours, which is considered nocturnal on most other planets, but it's just how we live," she decided to mention, since it might explain some quirks about her behaviour, like her dislike for bright lights. She hesitated, the tip of the pen hovering above the page, unsure what to write next. So she decided to wait it out and let Etoile respond before she continued.

She had fluid handwriting that make his look like a kid had taken a pen and scribbled over the pager with no regard for letters at all. But he completely forgot this for the moment as she spelled out words that captured his interest, instead. He listened to her describe her planet, so different from his in almost every way, and was captivated. If he had a million years to learn about it, he would.
"That's so amazing," he breathed, mesmerized by the cursive descriptions. "I bet it's beautiful." It seemed like a weird word to describe something that sounded so eerie compared to his own planet; bright, warm, and thick with towering trees. But the images in his mind that her words created were hauntingly beautiful, full of hanging metallic trees in the dark night, visible only by a pale moon.
"What about your family?" he asked next, gazing up at her with something that could only be described as undiluted, pure curiosity and fascination.

The girl blinked at her friend, giving the impression that she was repeating the question in her mind. The pen began to move across the paper again, leaving behind its informative trail of black ink.
"Chiz families usually only have one child at a time, and twins are rare and considered a health threat," she explained. "I'm an only child. My parents are great, just a bit overprotective. It's hard to blame them though, considering my condition." By 'condition' she was of course referring to her dsyfunctional voice box. It had caused some rough experiences in her early life, but as she had matured, so had her peers. That didn't stop her parents from worrying though. "We also tend to live in family based housing, we almost have little tribes of relatives who own and share one patch of land and all live together. It's rare for an offspring to venture far from their homeland. And it's not just blood relatives, often close friends will band together and share land too," she continued to explain, once again tending to dive into the factual accounts than her personal experiences.

"You don't have any siblings?"
The question jumped to his lips before he could stop it, and he immediately felt bad about it. "Sorry. I just meant. . . I mean, I have a little sister, and she's a little annoying sometimes but I wouldn't trade her for anything." The memories made him smile; time spent together picking fruits, having levitation fights, and otherwise picking on each other, just for fun.
He couldn't help but notice that she was spitting out facts instead of relating anything that was very personal. Maybe she preferred it that way, he didn't know, but the curiosity was poking at him.
"Do you miss your home? Or are you happy to be out here, exploring?"

When Etoile's voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts, she looked up at him in surprise, staring at him as he continued. The nib of the pen hovered over the paper again, as she awaited the next point of interest from the boy.
When the next question did arrive, the nib of the pen remained hovering, it's holder indecisive. Nalo seemed very much unsure what to write, or possibly reserved about her feelings in response to the question. She slowly lowered the pen, but because no words were coming out, she just left a messy scribble on the paper. Pulling herself together, she seemed to flick the pen slightly, as if to shake off the mistake, and carried on writing next to it.
"I miss it." was the simple sentence she wrote, the letters a fraction smaller than the others so far. "I" ... she began the sentence, then faltered, and seemed to think better of it as she crossed the letter out.
