Within a short minute of the blackout, Dengeki became bored. Other aliens had stopped gasping in surprise and were now thinking of ways to make the power go back on. Unagi, meanwhile was trying to do something either sexy or creepy to Vibe, hugging her from behind. The older boy sighed and stood up, stretching in the process. His tail now hung in front of him, casting a blue light over a small area in front of him. He continued to walk, listening for familiar voices, which soon led him to the small group consisting of Niji, Masurao, Etoile, Tala and a few others he hadn't met.
"Hey, Sunshine, Curly, Swirly and Susu!" He greeted each as he approached them, nicknaming them on the spot. "Any idea what happened?" A webbed hand touseled and fluffed his hair as he asked.
Back on the other side of the room, Unagi stood, hugging Vibe's waist. He had demanded that they use the 'buddy system', mostly because it was no fun to be alone in the dark, and he didn't feel like hanging out with his brother.
"Viiiiiibe," He began to whine, "Let's go do something" He swayed back and forth, still holding onto her. "Pleeeease?"

POOF.
Within seconds of that loud sound, the room went pitch black. "Hey, what's going on with the power?" She asked no one in particular. She kept her fruit basket close to her.
"Princess Niji?" She heard Masurao's voice rang out in the darkness.
Niji lifted her hand in the air, and formed an sparkly rainbow orb of color, it wasn't as bright as Nebulos' antenna but it was enough so that she could be able see clearly, "I'm right here." The multicolored alien called, brightening the orb ever so slightly. "I wonder what could have done this?" She wondered,
"I wonder what's going on." Nebulos, echoed her thoughts. She turned her head in the direction of his illuminating antenna. "A thing like this happened a few years ago, too," He began, "Remember, Niji? During that party, when the circuits blew? And everyone thought it was a power failure, but it really was an evil scheme by the teenz so they could kidnap all the kids from the Royal Sector!"
"Oh, yeah, I remember that!" She nodded in conformation. "Apparently, their plan was to hold us ransom in exchange for their freedom, THEN they were going to throw us all into the biggest black-hole in the universe!" She rolled her eyes, and shaking her head as well, "The plans these teenz come up with sometimes..." She then noticed Masurao's alarmed expression, and Nebulos' uneasiness as he took a few steps closer to her,
"...But I'm sure it's just nothing, right?" Nebulos asked rubbing his arm, his small smile asking for reassurance. Niji looked glance sideways for a brief second,
"Of course!" She smiled at him, patting his head. "I'm sure it's nothing to be alarmed about..." She said with as much reassurance as she could muster.
"Does anyone have a battery-powered communicator?"
At that request, Niji reached into the pouch she carried around her waist, "I do." She said reaching around and retrieving the purple and silver communicator. She pressed one of the jeweled buttons, revealing a screen full of static,
"That's weird..." She said, concerned. "The signal is jammed..."

Finnick was still leading Milo-Lee through the room, navigating the darkness rather easily with the feline girl's tail locked firmly around his waist either to keep from being lost or because she was still shakened from the fall and simply wanted him close. Or both. They came to a stop in front of a group highlighted by several different multicolored lights. The girl was easily able to make out Etoile, Tala, Nebulos, and Niji, thanks to their respective lights, but everyone else was difficult to discern in the darkness.
"Does anyone have a battery-powered communicator? We could radio another base and ask them to see if they can figure out what's going on in their scanners, maybe?"
"I think... I might..." Finnick said, pausing as he dug through his pockets. After a minute or two, he pulled out a small device, offering it to Tala. "Here," He said brightly, and the girl beside him rolled her eyes, causing them to flash like a cat's in the dim light, "Of course you do," Her tone was more joking now than earlier, and her bad mood from earlier seemed to have past, but Finnick avoided saying anything in case it might set her off again.

Jazlyn picked up Epsylux from where she fell, feeding her a peculiar-looking substance from a heart-shaped bottle dotted with crystals and with a bow tied around it. A strange pink glow enamated from Epsylux, and she floated back up to the ceiling, laying on a wide satelite dish-shaped lamp and lighting up the room with herself again.
"That oughta do it." Jazlyn mumbled, looking at her glowing friend as she slipped the bottle back into the pocket of her shorts.
"Does anyone have a battery-powered communicator? We could radio another base and ask them to see if they can figure out what's going on in their scanners, maybe?"
"Eh, I'll just contact them with this." Jazlyn shoved her right hand into her front pocket and pulled out a sleek silver phone. "Epsylux, charge please."
"Yes, Mistress." A grey-ish glow with several lighted orbs enveloped the gadget, before fading back to Epsylux. Smiling in satisfaction, she punched in a few numbers rapidly and held the phone to her ear, waiting for someone to pick up.

As Finnick and Milo-Lee approached the group, Dengeki's unseen eyes flickered over to them. He smiled to himself, knowing that he could probably get away with pretending to be Unagi in order to apologize. Shortly after Finnick located his communicator, he spoke.
"Hey Shmiley," He created another random nickname, hoping to lighten the mood. "Sorry for earlier, I was out of line. I just seem to have this thing with rudeness" He scratched the back of his head innocently, careful not to cause a big shift in his hair that would reveal his azure eyes. "Either way, I'm sorry for my horrid behavior, and I deeply regret what I said." He spoke the last sentence with a tone of elegance and a smile.
Mission complete. He thought, knowing that Unagi probably wouldn't apologize on his own anytime soon. The neon-blue light from his tail caused their faces to glow and darken to a steady beat as he waited for her reply.

"Do what exactly?" Vibe murmured in response, immobilised by her boyfriend's arms around her waist and a screechy bird atop her head. "It's dark, and if we leave the others might think we're kidnapped or something," she pointed out, her arms resting on top of Unagi's. Her eyes weren't exactly accustomed to the dark, but she could make out the outlines of shapes in front of her, further assisted by the faint glows coming from various luminous aliens in the room.

"Hey Shmiley,"
Milo-Lee looked up at the boy, raising her eyebrow in confusion. Since he was looking at her, she assumed he was, in fact, addressing her. "Sorry for earlier, I was out of line. I just seem to have this thing with rudeness. Either way, I'm sorry for my horrid behavior, and I deeply regret what I said."
The girl stared up at him in shock that, not only did he seem to no longer be mad, he was apologizing to her. She looked down at her feet for a moment, embarrassed, then looked back at him, grinning sheepishly.
"No, I'm sorry, I was rude," She said simply, shrugging. "Like you said, you didn't do anything to me," She flicked her tail, as if to help her make her point, and continued, "No hard feelings?"

"Hello? Yeah, this is Jazlyn.... our base lost power all of a sudden, could you help us check what's wrong?" Jazlyn chirped into the phone, oblivious to what else was going on. A high-pitched voice on the other end jabbered something, and Jazlyn hung up with a frown. "Well guys, apparently their power is out too.... do we need to send a notification to the GKND Leader?"

Oooh, sorry! That was completely my fault, about the shrill voice thing X3; I sincerely apologize and grovel at your feet for it! *grovels humbly* 83
Or maybe it's just Masurao who thinks it's shrill XD; Mane twitch twitch!
- - - - -
Masurao's glinting gaze left their inspection momentarily, when one of the twins made his way for their group, greeting him in a name he had not yet had the privelege of hearing, but also a privelege he'd rather not had had. Getting used to both of the taller boys' antics over the years, Masurao decided not to comment on it and let it just slide. The sudden darkness concerned him a bit, certainly after the tale Nebulos just relayed and Niji's confirmation. No one seemed to be particulary troubled by this unexpected occurence and continued chatting and trying to figure out possible solutions. Even Nebulos's smile had turned larger as he nodded in agreement that it was all just probably nothing.
"Hello? Yeah, this is Jazlyn.... our base lost power all of a sudden, could you help us check what's wrong?"
The guard's mane twitched lightly as he heard this voice call out amongst the others. He turned his head to look for this specific person and located Jazlyn, illuminated be her glowy companion. "Jazlyn managed to make a connection with someone," Nebulos said, gesturing over to said girl, which made his antennae bounce lightly and shift the strong shadows on everyone's faces. Masurao had come to the same conclusion and waited for the purple girl to elaborate, though making sure to keep his surroundings shrouded in shadows in check, glancing to the side occasionaly. It was so how he caught a sudden flash of light looming up in the blackness, which startled him for a second. It didn't take long, however, to recognize that is was Nalo's timber eyes who stood out amongst the shadows, who most likely had no trouble whatsoever to see what was going on. Her presence was somewhat settling, because she no doubt would warn them if she caught any sign of an intruder.
"What did they say?" Nebulos inquired, which made Masurao turn his head back to the current scene.
"Well guys, apparently their power is out too...." she said, shutting down her communicator, "Do we need to send a notification to the GKND Leader?"
Nebulos shrugged a little, one hand reaching out to scratch his messy snowy locks. "If the neighbouring Sector's power is out, then I guess it's not just our Department... I suppose Command might already know about our current situation, right?" The little alien said, smiling up at aliens much taller than him.
"You could always send them a message," Masurao continued in his hoarse voice, whose personality didn't allow to take anything for granted. "Even if they do know, it never hurts to double-check." He flicked his tail demurely. Nebulos blushed a bit, seeming a tad embarassed. "I suppose that would be a good idea," he said, chuckling nervously. He glanced up at the stoic guard meekly, who -after many a year- still had the tendency to be quite unnerving even without doing anything specific.

Sector is SUN, right? ;A; If it isn't, someone please tell me so I can edit this post.

"If the neighboring Sector's power is out, then I guess it's not just our Department... I suppose Command might already know about our current situation, right?" Nebulos smiled up at the group.
"You could always send them a message," Masurao continued Nebulos' sentence, his expression remaining the same. "Even if they do know, it never hurts to double-check."
"If you say so, Mr Grumpypants." She grinned at Masurao. "But would it cause immediate death if you smiled every once in a while?" Punching in a different set of numbers and waiting for the other end to pick up, she set Nebulos upon her head. "Stay there just in case someone squashes you in this darkness."
"Hello? GKND Command Officer Number X29 at your service." A hoarse voice that could rival Masurao's barked out. "What's your business with the GKND Command Base?"
"I am Jazlyn Estelle, Numbuh 8888 of Sector SUN. Our sector lost total power at the moment. We have checked with the neighbouring sectors, and we aren't the only ones in the predicament. Have you gotten an alert about this yet? If so, have you managed to figure out where the source of the power blackout is coming from?"
A moment of silence dominated the line, along with the frantic typing on a keyboard. "Numbuh 8888, we aren't quite sure about this, but it seems to be coming from deep within another solar system, although we can't pin-point the location exactly. I'll send you the coordinates of the solar system, but that's all we can do-" A high-pitched screech rang in the line and cut Numbuh X29 off and turned the line dead.
"Hello? Hello? Numbuh X29? Someone? Anyone?!" Jazlyn screamed at the receiver, before hanging up in frustration. "Ugh, looks like I got cut off again." Mumbling under her breath, she tried calling the base again.
"The number you're trying to call is disconnected."
Jazlyn tried another attempt, only to get the same response. With a shaking hand, she hung up and slid the phone back into her pocket.
"Guys....I-I think the Command Base has been a-attacked...."

(I thought this was going to be relationship related, not action related? An attack suggests action, unless someone was planning on disproving Jazlyn's theory?)

"Do what exactly? It's dark, and if we leave the others might think we're kidnapped or something,"
Unagi shrugged and spoke, his voice barely louder than a whisper. He brought his lips close to the girl's ear to ensure she'd hear his words.
"You know, since it's dark, we can," A pause for effect and his tail flicked back and forth, almost accenting his words. "You know, go to my room," Another pause. This time he waited until she looked directly at him before continuing. "We can build a blanket fort!" The last words, the boy spoke enthusiastically, the blue light reflecting off his grinning, purple teeth. Then realizing that it was not the time to be making forts out of blankets, he quickly dismissed his idea, a hint of disappointment in his voice. "But if you don't want to, you don't have to." Dengeki looked back at Milo-Lee, his smile remained sincere. "Yeah, no hard feelings," He opened his mouth to say something else, but was immediately distracted when he heard that another base was having the same problem with their power. Without speaking, he listened to the dilemma and suggestions on what to do. Finally, it was suggested that someone contact Command. Dengeki looked up and smiled at Masurao. "Ooh, good idea Susu!" He raised his hand for a high five, determined to get some type of reaction out of the stoic boy.
Again, his attention was drawn back to the situation when Jazlyn uttered the words, "Guys....I-I think the Command Base has been a-attacked...."u
The fish boy's reply came smoothly and slightly sarcastically. "Are you sure? Maybe you don't have a signal on your phone here. Or some idiot tripped the wire for the mainframe of phones." Though he didn't allow his voice to show it, his dark eyes were filled with concern and he hoped that what he just said was what really happened to the base.

*jumps in* XD - This was inconvenient. Very inconvenient, as a matter of fact.
Teen Ynda had only done one thing since she'd entered the room, which was reading one of her many pink-coloured novels. She didn't pay much attention to the aliens around her and managed to focus on the story she was reading, despite hearing all the noise that surrounded her.
It was when the room went completely dark that Ynda finally lifted her head in surprise, her eyes slightly widened. She thought someone might be attacking the base at first, but when there was no sign of an attack, she calmed down. It seemed it was merely a black-out.
She shut her book with an annoyed look on her face, as she'd just gotten to the good part. She felt relieved there were a few aliens that would glow by nature so the room wasn't completely dark, but it wasn't light enough to continue reading.
"God dammit," she cursed out loud, looking around and wondering what she should do now.

"Are you sure? Maybe you don't have a signal on your phone here. Or some idiot tripped the wire for the mainframe of phones." A sarcastic yet smooth tone belonging to that fish boy Dengeki came as a reply.
"My phone's signal is perfectly fine. I'm running on a universal network, thank you very much." Jazlyn glared at Dengeki, her lips pursed into an obstinate pout. "And every time I called the base, IT SAID THE NUMBER WAS DISCONNECTED!" Gritting her teeth to stop herself from spewing out expletives, she sat on a couch and ignored everyone's gazes. "Besides, who's missing here to have an opportunity to fly all the way to the network and mess with it?"
"Disconnected...." Epsylux mumbled out aloud. "I wonder what that means...."

Seeing as she wasn't just going to sit around doing nothing during this entire black-out, Ynda decided to move into the crowd. Leaving her book on the couch, she jumped off and walked between different aliens, alerted because it was now even easier for them to step on her than usual.
Ynda eventually saw a glow nearby and made her way towards Dengeki's tail, glad to see her fish friend. She quickly crawled up his pants and ducked inside his shirt just to tease him, coming back out of his shirt at the right sleeve. She then moved up his head and made herself comfortable.
"Hey, Fishface," she said simply, displeased to discover she couldn't see that much more in the dark from the tall alien's head.
