"Yes, I see..."
After hearing his less than enthusiastic reply, Niji continued. "Now all you have to do is just listen to the music, and move your feet along with it. It's very easy." She nodded, moving her feet to the song. She then looked back up at the taller boy. He looked bored, as if he'd rather be anywhere else but here. Well this dancing thing is new to him, so he might feel a little awkward She considered to herself, maybe she should ask him if he was okay? Masurao was never one to talk about his feelings. But it never hurt to take a chance. "Masurao, are you okay? You look kind of...Gloomier than usual." She removed her arms from his neck with a concerned expression, "If something's bugging you, you can talk to me about it. Maybe it's something I can help you with?" She offered with a smile.

well, I'll post something, but it will be lame. XD

Etoile brushed his lips against her nose, leading her onto the floor where there weren't many couples so as to keep from accidentally bumping into anyone. The lights were dim and the music was sweet, and it was the perfect setting for a dance. Swallowing memories of D'thlany, the Telarian boy drew his date closer.
When dancing with his mother or his sister during the Festival of Changing Colors, they had always kept up a certain position with each other that was both formal and appropriate. But now, Etoile disregarded the need for space and pulled her against him, draping his arms loosely around her waist while his tail waved happily behind him.
"You really do look lovely tonight," he murmured, tossing her a light, warm smile. They might dance a little differently on her planet, but he led the best way he knew how, in a small square of floor space with smooth steps that suggested that he knew what he was doing. "I'm the luckiest guy alive."

Very engrossed in his work, Nebulos kept stacking food on his plate, which already contained an alarmingly large amount of treats. It was fortunate the boy had arms to spare, otherwise it would have been impossible to keep the plate balanced. Holding it steady, a free hand reached out to stroke his chin, considering two different kinds of dishes in front of him. His his search progressed, he started to be a bit more considerate about the different types of food, seeing how it was impossible to put all of them on just one plate. But it also made it near impossible for the Luminarian to choose, since he pretty much liked anything, meat excluded.
As he pondered over the next decision, the corner of his eye spotted movement in the distance? Looking up, his chin still in his hand, he saw it was Lunira who was waving over at him. Dropping the hand, he used it to wave back at her, a smile quick to curl on his face. It became quite clear, however, she was not just waving, but pointing over at something. As many of the alien dishes were blocking his sight. So instead, cautiously balancing out the plate in front of him, Nebulos made his way over to where his date was standing, occasionally glancing down to make sure he wasn't stepping into any puddings. Arriving near her, he meant to inquire what she had been doing, but it became obvious soon enough when he looked down at the treat in front of them.
"Quablits!" he exclaimed, almost dropping the plate in his hands at the sight of his favourite treat. His face brightened profoundly as he looked down at the green, purple and blue coloured pieces of candy. Simply beaming, the blue-faced teen carefully put down the plate and promptly reached out to pick a Quablit out of the bowl, popping it into his mouth instantly. "I can't believe they have these!" he said in between chews, voicing Lunira's thoughts. He grabbed another handful and turned to face her this time, his face still as happy as ever. "You know me so well!" he said with a chuckle, holding out his hand for her to take a few candies from it.
"Now all you have to do is just listen to the music, and move your feet along with it. It's very easy."
Yes, it sounded simple enough, but executing (or wanting to execute) it was a completely different thing. Even though Masurao knew she was only trying, none of this was particularly reassuring. He knew she was looking at him, while he continued to look from side to side, even though the dancing couples didn't interest him a lot. "Masurao..." she began, which made him glance over for a second, "Are you okay? You look kind of...Gloomier than usual." Something jolted in his stomach, as if he had missed a step on a staircase. Little of it showed on the outside, his yearlong practice of keeping a neutral face rendering him this ability, but he was nonetheless bewildered why this question had alarmed him. It wasn't the first time Niji asked him if he was okay, so he had not a single idea why today should be different.
"If something's bugging you, you can talk to me about it. Maybe it's something I can help you with?" she went on, releasing his neck as she talked, which made him slightly more comfortable, though definitely not entirely. "I'm just fine." he replied after a minute, giving her his routine answer. Green eyes flicked in all directions, dodging her gaze. Masurao didn't have a clue what made him this unnerved. He was never unnerved. He was usually the one who was causing it in other people. The confusion frustrated him quite a bit, but he kept it stewing inside of him, not feeling the need to display his befuddlement to other people.

@sadie: 'Tis not be lame, thou hast is cutely...or something..>>; ------------------------------
Figuring that the pair hadn't heard her, Zoelin shrugged and walked away, still wondering whether or not if she should try to go out and dance again...or go back to her previous mission of finding the deejay's room.
A visible, pale, lavendar, orb scanned the room, over the many heads of teens dancing to their own beat and some in time to the music. It was then that she had noticed a door over on the other end of the wall, a large sign clearly marked:
"Authorized Personel Only"
Soon, a wide grin appeared on the girl's scarlet face, making it evident that her mind was made up. Before heading towards the door, she cautiously looked around her to make sure no one was watching. When there seemed to be no eyes resting on her, she made her way, slowly and surely.
Once at the door, she quickly jerked at the handle, finding it very easy to open since no one had apparently thought to lock the door. "Pfft...they really need to work on their security..." She slipped inside, trying to make sure she was gone unnoticed...in fact, her attention was so focused on the outside room, that she immediantly jumped when the person made a sound.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Eep." She turned around, seeing another teen, this one slightly taller than herself, wearing a pair of headphones on his head. He must've been the DJ, she guessed, seeing that one of his six hands were on the turn-tables. She blinked a couple of times, noticing that he was glaring at her with a questioning frown.
"Well? You're not supposed to be in here."
"Er..." The gerbil-esque girl looked around the room as her mind began to spin a little, until a small idea popped into her head. "There's something in the kitchens for you. Numbuh 23-B9* said it was for the staff and everyone, but the treats are going quick--"
As soon as she had said the word: Treats, the boy had leapt up and dashed out of the room.
Zoelin lifted an eyebrow at this, as a small gray-toothed grin followed. "......okay...." She turned back towards the turn tables and she chuckled under her breath. "Muah-hah-ha...."
-------------------
Lunira giggled, seeing his smiling face. She took a small step back as he went towards the treats, eating a few of them with a joyus expression.
"I can't believe they have these!"
"I know! That's what I had said too, great minds think alike, huh?" She grinned at him, before taking a few pieces of candy that was in his hand. Much to her surprise, she had thought she had picked out a green one, but had instead popped a purple one. So, when she had tried to chew on it...well, there was no cold-inside, or any inside for that matter...it was one of the hard ones.
She scrunched her face a little, caught off guard by picking out the wrong treat, but she liked it all the same. Then, her eyes caught sight of the plate near the boy. "Did you find any good treats, Nebby?"

There he went again. Pretending.
Niji let out a quiet sigh, as she watched the unusually flustered boy glance left and right as if he had stole something and was afraid of getting caught. She shook her head hopelessly. He always did this. Even when she knew that he knew that she knew that something was off with him, he still denied the fact. She was used to it by now, but it did not make it any more frustrating. But what more could she do? He obviously did not want to talk about it, and it's not like she could force him into telling her what was wrong? She certainly didn't want him to pressuring her to reveal her private thoughts. She shuddered slightly at the idea. She looked back up at him as looked away. She raised her hand to lightly tilt his chin upwards, even smiling a bit. "Chin up, Masurao. I know it's hard for you, but at least try to look a little happy at a party, okay?" She teased lightly, and added a playful tap to his chin. She backed away from him, "Thank you for the dance, Masi." She curtsied gracefully and smiled at him. "I hope you work it out soon..." She said softly, her voice quiet and gentle. "It just doesn't seem normal when you're troubled." She shrugged. "I don't like seeing you look troubled." She whispered turning away. "Oh! I'm going to find my da--I mean, my escort for the evening." She corrected quickly, and waved him before disappearing through the crowd of dancing couples.
The Princess manged to make it through the doors then let out of the ballroom without getting her danced on. She took a brief look left and right. 'Hm, I wonder where he went off too?' She wondered to herself. She started to head down the hall, and asked a nearby couple if they had seen the boy she sought and the two operatives indicated pointed into straight ahead. Toward the bathrooms. Niji lifted her eyes just in time to see the human emerge from the restroom. She waved at him elatedly and flew over to him and threw her arms around him in a hug which caused the boy to stumble a bit from the sudden impact.
Jamal blushed heavily, "Wh-what's this for?" He stuttered, his sunglasses dropping to his nose.
Niji pulled away, also blushing, "I just missed you that's all. What took you so long? Is everything alright?" She asked, her happy gaze now becoming one of concern.
Jamal nodded, readjusting his shades. "I'm perfectly fine. I'm sorry for worrying you." He apologized sheepishly.
The colorful girl giggled, "It's all right." She waved him off. "I'm just glad you're back with me..." She said shyly, causing both teenagers to blush. She twirled her hair nervously about her finger. Gosh, Niji, you're twirling your hair? Get a grip on yourself will you? With that mental reprimand, the princess immediately stopped her action a heated blue blush rising on her cheeks. It wasn't soon after that did she realize she was being stared at. Her hearts flipped flopped when looked up and saw Numbuh Infinity looking at her.
"Would you like to go for to the balcony for some air?" He offered with a smile, "You look like you could use it." He observed through his shades.
Niji nodded quickly. "Yes, I think that's a great idea...It is a bit, um w-warm in here. I-I guess it's from all the dancing." She gave him a wobbly smile.
The boy offered her his suited arm, "Then please follow me." He said with a pleasant smile.
It didn't take long for the two to reach the balcony. It was a favorite of many operatives whether it was to watch the sunrise or set, it was quiet and peaceful and that was something the two could appreciate. A chilly breeze met them as they stepped outside causing a chill to run down the girl's spine. She felt something warm drape around her shoulders and looked down to find her date's jacked wrapped around her shoulders, she smiled up at him gratefully.
"Thank you." She said softly as she pulled the blazer closer to her frame. It was so warm. She rested her elbows against the railings and looked up at the starry sky. "Wow, it's beautiful! Isn't it?" She turned her head upwards to look at him with a cheery smile.
Jamal nodded. "Oh, yes, it is. It's very beautiful." He looked back down at her.
Niji's eyes widened. She could see her whole reflection through the shiny black lenses of his shades. "Y-you know..." She began, not tearing her eyes away from him. "I don't think I've ever seen your eyes, your sunglasses were always in the way." She said.
In a rare move, Numbuh Infinity removed his sunglasses and tucked them in his pants pocket. "Is this better?" He asked with a smile.
His eyes were a lighter than what she had originally expected. They were kind of a light brown, but the shade darkened a bit around the pupils, and they glinted in the moonlight.
"You have very pretty eyes..." She whispered the first thing that came to her mind as she took a step closer toward him.
Jamal breathed a light chuckle, "As do you, Niji..."
Niji looked away briefly blushing before chancing a glance at him. He just smiled at her. That sweet, tranquil smile, that sent her hearts fluttering and her mind screaming at her to do something she had been wanting to do for awhile. On impulse, she stood on her levitated off the ground so that she reached his eye level and placed her hands on his shoulders, startling him quite a bit.
Jamal blushed, and shook his head slowly, "N-Niji, I-I don't think we should... be..." He was silenced when she placed a finger on his lips.
"Shh...Don't think." She hushed softly. With that said, she closed her eyes and slowly began to lean forward, silently praying that everything would turn out okay...
Just then the doors to the balcony slid open, and a collective gasp was heard.
"Oh, my..."
The two teenagers jumped apart, guilty blushes spreading across their faces. They turned their heads to see another couple at the doorway looking at them quite awkwardly.
"Uh, s-sorry, we didn't know this spot was taken." The girl apologized.
Numbuh Infinity spoke up, "It's quite alright, really." He glanced at Niji, who was busy glaring awkwardly at the floor. He cleared his throat. "W-we should be heading back towards the dance, Princess Niji."
Niji nodded, "Yeah, I suppose you're right..." She said trying her best to hide the disappointment in her voice. She was failing miserably.
As the two headed toward the balcony's door, Niji couldn't help but turn around, at the couple who just entered. They were in the middle of sharing a moment. She secretly envied them. They didn't need to sneak around just to have even five minutes of private time. They didn't have to worry about anything. 'Don't worry, you'll have another chance soon.' A voice in her head comforted her.
"Princess Niji?" A male voice called out gently from the door, tearing the girl's attention from the couple. "Are you coming."
"We'll get another chance soon." She whispered to herself confidently, but as she followed the boy back inside the dance, she had to stomp down the tiny nagging feeling inside that told her otherwise. ---------------------------------
Whew! THAT was long! ^^; Nighty-Night y'all! XD
